OK. I understand the concept of leasing on the planets, but I read something about leasing trade goods in the manual and that is what confused me. As for the 1000 bc selling of a trade good, that was only an example! ;p

Perhaps turning the autosave to a lower value will help the performance? I assume the autosave happens between turns, not in the background. So, taking a turn during the autosave round with a gigantic map would take noticeably longer. More memory is probably the best approach! ;p

I don't think I follow the concept of leasing so I'm going to ask this question. If I 'invent' Ultra-spices, and then give it to the Torians in exchange for 100 bc/10 months, do I get it back at the end of the 10 months? Do I lose it? Thanks.

I don't think that 'must-have' and 'nice-to-have' are consistent. If you are fighting influence (and even if you build starbases), you often can afford to build propaganda centers, which only improve the odds of getting a saving roll! :D

I'm curious what other players' strategies are toward initial colonization? Do many go for below 15 simply to 'capture' sectors, or do most stick to 15+? I don't want to burden my economy by grabbing up all the sub-par planets, but at the same time, I don't want to be driven out by the other races, which seem to grow much more quickly than I (though this is probably because I have much to learn!). Thanks! :D

Well, it does work even on a small scale. Unless you dedicate all your time and effort to diplomacy, you can't expect HUGE returns, but you can get several hundred a month...and every little bit helps. I wonder if doing this for a race that has cash flow/military troubles helps your relations? You are making money off of them, but in the short term you are helping them out at a loss!

There are a limited number of governers. How do you assign a system to particular governers? Do you do this? Am I looking at this in the wrong way? And if this information is available, where can it be found? Thank you!! :D

Again, I wanted to thank Stardock for making a game that is easily played on a laptop while traveling. Too many games require too much of a system and are very difficult to play with smaller keyboards and without mice. GalCiv isn't that way at all! Thank you for making my daily business commutes that much shorter! :)

Man. I hadn't thought of renaming the systems. I tend to just remember the names of the important ones...but I can see how naming them can aid in making certain production runs smoothly. Of course, naming the planets would be even more granular and would allow much more control. I have to admit, I'm still not that good, but keeping track of all this stuff is a blast! LOL
