Frogboy, thanks very much for the outline of planned improvements for 2011. Very nice. I do hope that one relatively easy item could get on the list: improving the player's UI for purchasing, trading, and equipping items. Right now it is a nightmare compared to almost every other RPG game I've ever played (and I've been playing computer games since Pong). The major issues that I see in the equipment UI: 1. No way to see what a c

Re: the tiny ship launch window that shows small icons of ships in orbit: Allow player to shift-click a set of ships to launch. (A neat bonus would then be to be able to ctrl-click the luanch button to launch them as a fleet.)
Minor interface improvement: be consistent about where movement point info is displayed. Depending on whether you have a single ship or fleet selected, the info appears at different parts of the screen, in small typeface. The player should always be able to look at the same screenspace in the ship display to see the same info, regardless of whether he's looking at a single ship or fleet. In general, the ship display portion of the screen
When more than one transports are in a fleet or square, display the total amount of troops the fleet carries, just as it is displayed when you have just one in a square. Currently you must go to the manage/details screen for each individual ship to see how many they carry, and add the numbers in your head. Very clunky. Also would be nice to see how many troops each carries in the ship list.
I still don't believe there is not a local Hall of Fame feature. I've been gaming since the 80's and have never seen a single-player game without one. So it must be me who is wrong and just cannot find that feature, right? It must be there...
Badly corrupted save files--this has happened to me 2-3 times now, in all versions of the game. When save-game load bar hits 100%, game crashes and you get a Windows dialogue saying "Ddhelp has caused an error in . Ddhelp will now close." Here's the weird thing: after that happens an *uncorrupted* save file will not load unless you restart the entire computer. I.e., if (1) load savegame1 and game crashes, then if savegame2 is uncorrupted, (2) immediately restarting GalCiv and loading savega
And when you get Battleships that also gives you Combat Transports (big versions that carry 5M and have defenses)
I too think the good interface is way too harshly bright, I don't even want to be good because of that
Kraftwerk is good stuff! Have "We Are the Robots" pounding away as you fight the Yor, it really adds to the game atmosphere...
I've been playing large/huge with loose/uncommon the last several games (Arcean-genius, all others intelligent) in hopes of getting exactly the kind of game I'm now in the middle of: everyone now has dreadnoughts, all the AI's except Arcean have "average/average" econ/militaries, with the Arceans "strongest/strongest." I'm fighting tooth and nail, the galaxy has just been fully explored, the foreign relations are complex, and the higher level techs really mean something in this game... I'll l
But it would seem to be a pretty basic thing to have a place where you can see what you have "leased," right now you can't.
The manual at page 20 says "these are very very rare." I'll say--I've played about 20 maps and have never seen one. Has anyone? Is there some special condition for them to occur?
I just want to say I have never seen anything approaching the level of support Brad and company give, it is truly amazing, stunning. As I play I'm building a list of suggestions to post but every couple days I get to cross off items because Brad is already fixing them. It's like telepathy...
I noticed the same thing and at first thought it was a mistake, but now I'm not sure. Otherwise, wouldn't it be a big exploit to entice an AI to sell you tech by promising to pay for a few hundred months, and then keeping the tech and welshing n your deal by declaring war?
As a semi-colorblind person (red/green) I can say it would *very much* improve my enjoyment of the game to be able to customize the race colors. Right now I look at the minimap and basically see "Terran," "Maybe Yor, maybe Drengin?", "maybe Acian, maybe Tecain?" etc. And don't get me started on trying to tell the difference on the mini-map between Terran and Alcian ships (:(
Here's some prioritized suggestions CRITICAL The way "auto pilot" and "Find"/TAB key currently (don't) work is a huge barrier to enjoying the game. Sometimes ships on auto pilot move, sometimes they don't, there's no way to figure out why that I can tell. Hit "TAB" and you get a beep meaning all ships have moved--then look at the ships and you discover half the "autopilot" ships have not moved and you simply don't know when or if they will decide to do so that turn. The "MENU"
