I have not played it yet but I wonder if Firaxis fell into the same trap as (I suspect) SD did back in 2010. I am talking about the "we are releasing to brick and mortar stores and oh, crap, we do not have all of our features in on time but need to release to honor contractual obligations." It feels that way to me looking in from the outside. Man, if I had a game company I would only want to release on digital platforms so I had full control of release "when it is ready." If this is true

I might have to pop on over to BE forums to remind me of what it was like on the EWOM forums in Sep 2010. Ahh, those were lively times.

I enjoy the humor in the base game. I feel at some point, assuming the community obtains something that makes quests much easier to create, modders will create immersive quests tailored to their specific mod or to replace the humorous quests of the base game. I too felt the OP was off-base by labeling "lazy". It is obvious to me that serious effort went into the creation of these quests.

[quote who="Frogboy" reply="10" id="3501540"]That is so odd as I've never seen that happen in tactical battles. Is it possible to consider another name for the mechanic? In my opinion, "Unrest" feels overused across games. Calling it the "Loyalty" mechanic (or penalty) feels more accurate for this game. I like the term "Loyalty" because I feel it defines what is going on here; your people are switching loyalty to the SK. Minor point, but something to at least consider.

I wonder if the developers added a "dampening effect" to the entire SK battle it would help. For example, since the fight is at the SK home location, all damage is reduced by 1/3 or 1/2. The boss fight needs to feel more "bossy." What if he had a trait that would sometimes cause random things to occur like spells fizzling, etc. Just some ideas to throw out there.

Champion Algore casts anthropogenic global warming spell: all sea levels rise 50 meters to gain 10,000 gold. It would have a multi-turn cast requirement and fortunately can be disrupted. [e digicons]:digichet:[/e]

I believe it is a design feature to make choosing spells matter. In other words, when you see a spell you want, grab it then or you may not see it later. I believe they implemented this to eliminate the "player will eventually research everything" syndrome. I like the direction of this. Of course I could be wrong; maybe it is a bug.

Maybe it could be an "Open Sesame" spell to unlock the gate. That, or good 'ol breakin' and enterin'.

It appears units die when attacking shards. I wonder if the lieutenants are attacking shards and dying, thus causing instances of them disappearing thus no way to get the keys.
