what would you like to see in a Sins expansion??

what would you like to see in a Sins expansion??

I know the game just came out less than a month ago, and for many of us who have waited for this game from way back when...all have know that there will be strong distinctive possibility that an expansion will be come out in a year or so for this great game.

Sooo...what would you all like to see for a future expansion.

Examples would be:

more different units,
different superweapons
more races
campaign mode
more special abilities
different types of planetary infrastructures
special abilitites that grants different tactictal advantages
improvement to the empire tree
3d movements in combat

etc.

List away and the devs will forsure listen. :D

can we have abilities that throw the enemies fleet 5 phase jumps away from there current location, or throw them to the next star system, like in star trek. That would be one annoying super weapon to have. :D

Planetary conquest. Seems like such a waste to have to blow everything up and rebuild again. Where does all the space debris go? Eventually it'd be like a cloud of junk filling your sectors. I like the strategy aspect of having to plan assault transports. I think that bombardment should stay, but maybe be nerf'd a little (it seems that planets die just a little too fast, at least when they are coming after me! When *I* bomb people, it takes forever :)

Phase lane traps. Like a little fleet waiting in the middle of a phase lane.

And some kind of unit that prevents phase jumps until destroyed (Interdictor cruiser for Star Wars anyone?)

And some kind of ion cannon inside the planet that can fire at capital ships and nuke frigates.

And for sure, a campaign mode for every race. (Itching to play the Advent campaign).

Hardpoints on capital ships and cruisers. (We all want to take out their engines first then the shields)

Minefields, jump point orbital platforms with heavy weaponry, minesweepers.

Super capital ships (super star destroyers or monitors)

Heroes. Captains, engineers or weapons experts that can be associated with certain cap ships and who can give that cap ship, possible the whole fleet, a bonus.

Pirate bounty for ship-specific missions. Give x amount of credits to kill y battleship, whose rating is 8 and who has Captain Kirk aboard (see heroes above). For that matter, why not make missions for the player to give to other empires? Think of Sink the Bismarck, (or the Graf Spee, or the Yamato).

Random mega events, like in Galciv2. Random things like phase lanes that randomly open and close.

What id like to see is when your in lobby. Choose to not see all players that are ingame. not to see all the players going in and out of chat rooms. And when scrolling the players in lobby bar for it not to be interrupted by players entering the lobby.

Porbably more suitable for a patch than expansion but we'll see.

I would like to see in any sins2
1. more control over individual capital ships or formations using different commands similar to Nexus game.
2. 3d combat and more animation when ships are hit i.e. scorch marks and damaged areas, eye candy such as moving turrets or ships must turn towards the target ships in order to fire in a particular weapon's arc.
3. Keep the phase lanes where they are but make the gravity well wider depending on the size of the planet i.e. bigger the planet wider the gravity well and vice versa
4. Humans ships should look chunky and big especially battleships and heavy cruisers something like the ships on Babylon 5 of the Earth Alliance(Hyperion cruiser, Omega destroyer or somethin like the Warlock )
5 Orbital fortresses with penalty (Very expensive to build for instance!)
6. Fighters and bombers that can be put into basic formations and functions such as attack, patrol, guard and return.
7. A campaign or a lot more training skirmishes or a tutor campaign something to help with learning the game.
8. Better and more useful targeting options such as damaging or destroying a shield generator, engines or life support if you can keep hitting the same target a number of times using ships and or fighters similar to the targeting options in the game Nexus.
9. All ships should be following the Rules of Newton mechanics especially when damaged i.e. if a ship engines is damaged or destroyed then the ship should driff a bit out of control or even spin slowly from the blast.
10. Very detailed and defined ships.

I would love to see more ships, like variety. More structures, and more varied worlds. Also, would LOVE to see random events as an option. Bigger ships too. A super-capital ship class. Maybe a slightly higher level cap, like to 11 or 12, and add an ability you get at the end, that is very strong.
Make the sides just a little more different. Give the Advent a super battleship, the TEC mobile factories, the Vasari an agile destroyer than is awesome at dodging, and uses a cloaking field or something to that extent.
More things to find on planets is one of the biggest though, I think it really needs more randomness.
The ability to build small outposts in astroid fields would be nice too, to offer a very small defence (like two laser cannons on the outpost and one squadren).
Maybe have suns have different effects on things as well. Very small, but there. like 2-4% gains or losses.
Offer more color selections, or a design style for your race. So we all don't look so similar.
Just some thoughts, love the game though.

Oh, also, patrol command, just looks nice.

To me reading the race's lore it seems that the Vasari and the Advent both seem to come from the Dune books. By this I mean they both kinda borrow bits from the Honored Matre's history if you consider Brian Herbert's and Kevin Anderson's work cannon. To this end I believe and want at least 1 more if not 2 more races or "sentinent beings" in an expansion pack. I also ( if not fixed in a patch) would like a fleshed out campaign mode and would like all races to start at Neutrality towards each other. I could understand if the Vasari were hostile to all and the Advent were hostile towards TEC giving their respective backgrounds.

Obvious wants in XP:

More Units
More Races
Custom Race option(maybe allow the user to flesh out a Tech tree for them?)
Campaign Mode
Pirates Playable in Multiplayer at least?
Custom Empire logos

Anyway I'm enjoying the game and if I get no XP I'm still satisfied. Now to practice my rping and find a group to play with:)

I'll pass on 3d movement.

Since I'm dreaming, I'd like to see....
-Binary Star graphics, since most stars are binary
-Circular orbit paths so that the planets appear to be rotating around the stars
-Space stations so that you can claim the gravity wells of stars and gas giants
-Visible Star to Star jump lanes
-Invasion and the ability to conquer enemy planets
-Ability to ask AI opponent to do missions
-Custom player portraits and empire logos
-Single player campaign

More TEC ships that aren't retrofitted trade vessels. I like where the development was going with the Kol-class Battleship, and would like to seem ore ships in that style. Might I also suggest more pronounced missile contrails, and more noticeable detonations along the hulls of ships where weapons fire impacts? The game was going for a Babylon 5 feel, so let's complete the package. :)

Story mode, campaingn mode.

I miss this since homeworld (2) and nexus. will make te game even more interesting imho.

1.Single player campaign.

2.boarding actions.

3.pirates try to capture valuable ships(such as capital ships) and Auction them off.

4.some sort of "empire points"-players can earn more points by expand thier empire(maybe based on total population).and can spend them on something like megacapship, fleetcapstructure etc etc....
,big empires should have significant advantages now.

5.megacapship that futher increase the differences between races and provide support to fleet, for example:
TEC:a mobile fortress can build small ships and funtion like a commandcenter(hit chance, damage etc...)
Advent:spread culture everywhere(dont forget shield mitigation),nasty psi buff and big hanger.
Vasari:a phase stabilizer that can move, also can instill fear upon the enemy and damp thier culture.

6.more unique smallships. :CONGRAT:

7.ability to raise militia(cant phasejump): player can raise more "stages"(same as infrastructure) of militia depend on population of the planet, and need upkeep(so no turtle),for emergency situations only.

8.moons around the planet:though most moons are just small astroids,a moon has the quaility of the lunar would be very rare, but provide both big tatical and logistic adventages(even can be colonized).

9.gasgiant usually has many moons around them, essentially make them important strategy point.

10.even more easy to use empire tree.

11.winning conditions,so a game wont take too long.

12.maybe new unique races(think Dawn of War).

13.balanced superweapons and end-game tech.

14.Kamikaze,fireship,boarding parties, mind controls, add chaos to the battle.

15.enchanced diplomacy.

16.more anomalies,space isnt that quiet.

17.minor races? :d

hope this useful...

The ability to look at the battle from a capital ship's bridge
Reply #41 Top
Im not crazy about a campaign for this game.

For a possible expansion i would like things like moons, new races and new units/capital ships. Please no new superwepons, just balance the ones we have now.
Possibly a capital ship that can make frigates on the go?

2. Vassal planets. You could come across a densely populated world. After vanquishing their pathetic navy, they offer to give you more credits, metal, and crystal than you could ever make by colonizing it on your own in exchange for protection. The vassal planet will provide you this wealth until an enemy ship comes into the gravity well. At that point, all payments cease until the intruder is driven off. The player would be unable to build any logistical structures around the vassal planet, but would be able to build tactical ones.

This is an incredibly awesome idea. Rich civilian planets you need to protect instead of occupy. You get paid to protect them. Thumbs up.

As for me, I'd like to see another race, a single player campaign and more win options for multiplayer gameplay.

Kind of goes along with that idea but why not minor faction negotiations?(IE militia colonies)
1. Better graphics, better models, moving turrets, biggr planets.

2. Real diplomacy, random pirate attacks (not timed).

3. More unique races...I dont care what you say, I shouldnt have to get a microscope to tell the difference in races. Just naming something different doesnt make it unique.

4. A little bit more lore. I still have NO idea what Sins someone commited, or anything about Solar energy etc. This would be nice.

Just my 2c.

"Terrain" effects on combat.

As it stands now, all ships function equally well anywhere they are. There is no "high ground" to help defenders, no "rough terrain" to affect mobility, etc. Some random ideas along this line:

- Spots that are bad for capital ships (difficult to maneuver, so more difficult for them to bring weapons to bear or to evade fire). Asteroid belt, perhaps.
- Some areas in which fighter/bomber craft may not be safely used due to some natural difficulty (ion cloud?)
- Locations in which the jump points are difficult to enter - a natural "bottleneck" that takes longer to "get through."
- Areas of "poor visibility," in which sensors are greatly reduced. You could be in this type of gravity well the same time as an opponent, and not even know it until you got right on top of one another.
- In military tactics, outnumbered defenders attempt to entrench on some kind of "high ground" to even the odds. How about something like this: Any unit that enters a black hole well and remains there to "entrench" for a set amount of time (before any enemy vessel enters) is given a defensive bonus (perhaps temporarily increased shiled regeneration).

Just some random thoughts, I'm sure others could come up with better, but I certainly would like to see the principle of "terrain effects" somehow factored into this great game.

I'd like to see that kamakazi thing someone mentioned. Like your cap ship is taking severe damage, but instead of just blowing up randomly when it's hitpoints hit 0. It'd be nice to use the last bit of power to make it head towards the enemies cap and ram it, bringing it down with you. Or something.

This game's space combat reminds me of a mixture of BSG and Babylon 5, and in both of those the giant cap ships kamakazi'd other caps before dieing. I'd like to be able to do that, especially in multiplayer. What could be more fun then 'YOU WANNA KILL ME!? FINE! BUT I'M TAKING YOU DOWN WITH ME!' and taking his lvl 10 cap down with yours lol.

I also agree with the random space anomaly idea. I've been watching Star Trek lately and they just do so many things, nebula's, odd forms of space, 'storms'. Just a lot of variety would be nice.

I'd also like a move 'open' game. Like, instead of limiting ships to gravity wells, let them fly at sublight along the phase lanes. Like make a somewhat wide 'gravity well' around all phase lanes and make phase jumps manual. So I can drop my fleet out of phase half-way down the lane and setup ambushes or simply take a breather while retreating or something.

That idea would also go good with a sort of interdictor unit. Plop your fleet in the middle of a phase lane with an interdictor unit and yank incoming fleets into normal space before they reach your planet. Would also be good if trade lanes were more important.

And on the trade lane subject, I'd like to see such things have a larger impact in this game. If I go and disrupt an empires trade, I want to see noticble affects. I'm sick of having the only way to win is by amassing huge fleets and overpowering your enemies. I'd like to see more options regarding economy and culture, and tactics. Instigate rebellions on your enemies worlds and have them join your cause through culture, or buy out your enemies manufacturers with your superior economy so everything costs much more for them and whatnot.

Simply more ways to win would be my biggest thing for an expansion, since that's the main reason I don't play online anymore. It just isn't fun where you HAVE to win through military might.
I second Colt556. More ways to win the game would be the best improvement i can think of. I really like the idea of "buying out" enemies bit by bit with an aggressive economy or culture.

Also, there is no espionage in this game. I love space spys! How cool would it be for the Advent to have nasty, psychic mind-reading spies sabatoging ships and facilities?
I'd like to see another faction and uber class ships. The other faction will probably be whatever is chasing the Vasari.
