I've seen this issue come up on a variety of other forums and although I know it was cleared up in the xplay thread, I am making this explicit post to help make sure it isn't missed by new visitors:

Sins costs nothing to play on-line.

Here is the xplay segment transcript:

Morgan: "This is going to destroy lives, isn't it?"

Brad: "Yea, but you won't have to pay $15 a month for the service. (i.e. unlike MMOs)."

On-line play is free, unlimited.
Please spread the word in other forums!  And use a SINS banner :P

Also ive never heard about any none MMO PC games that requires a monthly fee to play.

Anyway i suggest we bump this thread for the next week or two, just to be sure :D

Universe at War uses Games for Windows Live, which requires an annual fee to play ranked/automatches.

You only pay for MS services.

This is true. ;)

I would guess that people hear what they want to hear, even if it's on a subconcious level. Remember in elementary school when the class did those experiments of whispering a phase to one another and it never came out right in the end?  Basically the same thing I'd wager.

My worthless psychobabble is that many gamers subconciously feel like they're constantly getting screwed by publishers/developers. So when they hear something with a dollar value in that context that they're not quite sure of, some folks will always assume the worst (and honestly, who could really blame them all that much?).

You pay the same fee to surf the web so yes it is free to play Sins online since it isn't charging you.
