GC and SDC both appear to still have problems with non-socks proxy servers. 1. They are unable to read the proxy exceptions. Adding *.stardock.com to my domain policy for proxy exceptions, or even manually adding it when running as a local or domain admin has no effect. 2. When running through squid as a authenticating proxy server, SDC is unable to read the IE proxy settings at all. I have to specify the SDC proxy authentication info in the SDC settings tab. This creates a p
Thank you, Sedennial. I can finally sleep soundly knowing that I'm not alone in realizing this
Ahh, well I have long been an admirer of the Jedi Way, though they suffer from a fundamental flaw in that they fail to see that nothing is real and the Force is All. :D
Shhh Sedenial, ignore Qui-Gon. His reasonable explanations would just kill this thread.
No, this thread couldn't possibly be dead yet as Godwin's Law http://info.astrian.net/

Actually there would be a possibility. I don't know how feasible it would be for you but it seems that you could modify a portion of my setup to make it work. I have a full-fledged network at home and play GC on two different machines but I only have to update it on any one machine. The game files themselves are installed to a shared folder on the domain controller which is mapped to a drive (S:). Here is the part that might work for you with some modifications: I use a public domai

Actually, I have seen this often as well, but I never believed it was a bug. However since every game I have played has been on gigantic on a slower machine (wow...when did 800 MHZ with 768 MB RAM become slower?!), I have never taken the time to reload repeatedly to diagnose it further due to the logic expressed repeatedly above (and my own observations below). I can shed a little light however - every time it has appeared to happen, it has been under the following two circumstances: 1

One of my friends (now stationed in Iraq) posted this (in another discussion forum):
62.52465% - Extreme Geek I think I should get bonus points for the fact that determining my geekiness was one of the first things I did when I got access to a computer in a war zone.
I usually build low cost morale, PQ enhancements, Influence or economic depending on star system location, research, any remaining morale. HairyTheTaco is right though, it really does depend on what type of victory you are aiming for. Though I have found several times that my original victory plan shifts to a different mode mid-way through the game. Hairy, on another note, I once found a HairyTaco in my refrigerator. Any relation? ;p

Interesting. I run in 1280x1024 and have never had any problem at all and I got one of the very first retail copies....my brother was in the beta/gamma. :D What video card, version of Windows, and version of DirectX do you have installed?

Sheesh...you aren't kidding that they are more common in 1.09. I just ended (badly :) )a game in which I had lost every one of my ships in three years when my survey ships uncovered not 1, not two, but SIX space sharks in a row. Which reminds me, there should be a selector to ignore certain classes of anomolies and things when in auto-survey mode. [Message Edited]

Submitted my score for my third game last night (I played this game from May until last night). Reported that score was submitted successfully but it does not show up. I have re-registered under my DN SN after upgrading and got my old scores converted over (I thought). I have the latest patch for the exp pack. So I'm wondering where my score is?

Suggestions and question (awesome work on EP guys! It rocks!): Suggestion 1: What about adding a toggle to show rally points on mini-map. Locating a rally point when you have 10 or 15 of them is pretty hard. Suggestion 2: When in the diplomacy trade screen (or any other mini-map screen within the other window) it would be really nice to be able to click on the mini-map in the window and have the big map jump to that location. I have a gigantic game that had a very large clust

I have done this three times but haven't been able to replicate it every time. Create a rally point (e.g. rally point 6) Accidentally click the rally point arrow and come into edit mode. Leave edit mode without changing the name Next turn Create a new rally point and it will sometimes call it rally point 6 (or whatever the other rally point number was).

Apparent bug when absorbing a minor race. This is different from the overflowing soldier bug (info warfare) and I like it a lot less. :D When engaging in info warefare the ending pop numbers are sometimes way off from the predicted results. e.g. I attack with 10 billion troops, population is 37 billion. Morale is 43, info warfare predicted between 2.4 and 3.8 billion would join my cause. Advantage factor was 52 to 8. At the end of the war I have reportedly have 2.1 billion troops left. When I view the planet two turns later I
