As a software developer the $499 version is well priced. I agree mostly with Bakerstreet. But a $129 version for non-commercial use, with a $99 upgrade from Object Desktop would be nice for power users who just want to make applications that they can send to friends. Stardock could just put in the license something like applications created with DesktopX Pro may not be used to promote a website. So some DesktopX object maker could not get into the business of making these progr

Very nice work.
Which section would be best for WinCustomize? Are boot screens really something that woudl be good for the site?
Heck, compare the much hyped "Steam" to Stardock Central. What a mess Steam is. While Stardock Central works as advertised, has more features, and supports more software.
Isn't hobnobber the husband of everyone's favorite psycho witch Chichigirl? That would explain his warped perception of the world.
Where's the love? Let's see things you love!
Anybody had any weird dreams lately? I had one lsat night where I was trying to get to school but had to pass through this yard where a bear and a giant iguanna were fighting.
I've been switching my times between my Mac and my PC and DesktopX is pulling me back to my PC!
Bralex - what people like Hamster and Jayg and myself and probably others have a problem with is elitism. Hamster doesn't apparently see this as a big problem. I don't see it as a big problem. Report it as a bug for them to add to their list in the bug thread and move on. It's a game. If CM wants to be a drama queen about his bug then he shouldn't be surprised if someone gives him a reality check. Frogboy was very concrete: They'll look into this 'bug' with the 1.1 updates. Like Hamster said, wh
Hikertrash, I agree completely. What I object to is the attitude shown by some people towards the developers. For the sake of argument let us say that there's a bug that allows some of the AI players to sometimes get a technology without the prerequisite. Okay. So what? It is apparently not noticeable enough that it wasn't noticed by anybody for months. But now there's a contigent of users getting all militant because the developers don't see this as something that needs to be looked at right no
I'm sure i'm not the only MOO fan who sees MOO 3's failure as a very sad thing. I was over at amazon and saw that the average rating had slipped to under 2 stars. That's the first PC game I've ever seen do that there. I hope they can patch it to being a decent game. The data patch helps the ai some but doesn't resolve the fundamental problems with it. sigh. http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B00005Y4Q0/ref=cm_custrec_gl_rec/103-1056171-4064616
I'm jealous!!!! I'm slowly downloading on my 56k. thank goodness for resume. fighting over the phone line.
I think the problem is not the review on its own but when it's compared to the review on moo 3. At this point most people know that Master of Orion is a bad game. ya, a handful of people like the game but overall it's a big failure. But OS was pretty unrestricted in their praise for it. The review of gal civ makes me think that gal civ is paying for the sins of moo 3. That they don't want to be too positive about the gameso that they don't look bad. The problem with

Heh. Brad, remind me not to ever get into a flame war with you. Without being even slightly impolite you were able to let them hang themselves with their own words. Para-phrasing: QS: You seemed to have thought that we would extend professional courtesy to you here because you had extended professional courtesy to our game on your board. I for one hope that no one above Sencho does that. FB: You are correct. I assumed a certain level of professionalism by those associa
How come I haven't seen any previews of this game in the game magazines?? Didn't Stardock or Strategy First send them copies early on? You can't sit back and just wait for coverage. You gotta be aggressive.
I got really discouraged when it would announce that a war was over. As if I had no say in the matter.
As if millions cried out in terror and suddenly there was silence!
That will be nice. I am looking forward to the bonus pack.
The GalCiv guys listen to ideas and put ideas in. They should do a rollcall of people here so that beta testers can stand up and point to a suggestion of theirs that's in.
I got MOO3 the day it came out. I worked my way through the god-awful user interface, the crappy graphics, and the brain dead viceroys. I sat through many forced 10 minute borathons of seeing little dots zapping at each other. My reward? To find that the AI doesn't do anything. All games will end with a senate vote. Find me someone who has won or lost the game via a different method. Since the AI is incapable of actually invading a planet, that leaves it up to me to invade them. But going to war
The responses are in a text file. But I like them. When you play the game over and over again the humor really makes the game more fun. It's a little off putting sometimes at first but for me it makes the game a lot livelier.
I've found it harder to win as evil than as good. No one cuts you slack when you're evil.
I wonder if this site's traffic has gone up since moo3 came out. I am annoyed at Stardock for dealying GalCiv for MOO 3.
I can't understand how anyone could like MOO 3. Not just a matter of taste but it has flaws that are just so basic. The battles take place on a plain field that you cannot see the units. Ship design is meaningless because you there is no cause and effect. Hell, there's no cause and effect in the whole game. I won this evening and I am not even sure how. I won the Orion Senate election. Why? What did I do? These aren't just issues of taste. These are game 101 type things.
