MOO 3...what the hell happened?

MOO 3...what the hell happened?

I purchased MOO 3 today and starting when I got home from work until about 5 minutes ago I've been playing. I am not sure play is the operative word. The game is more like work than play.

I don't dare post on the IG forums. I don't need some snot nosed kid telling me that I just need to give the game 40 hours of my life so I can understand the damn thing. It's already ducked out over 6 of it and I've had enough.

Maybe I would find I liked it after 40 hours. Then again, probably not. 40 hours and I could learn how to write VBScript or JAVAScript and learn to create a kick ass database drive home page. I'd find that fun and it would be knowledge that's useful. 40 hours training myself to play a video game would be idiotic.

Baldur's Gate II gave me 70 hours of enjoying play. How can any sane person expect someone to put up with 40 hours or even 10 hours of agony to learn how to play a game? Particularly when I've got GalCiv which not only is a lot simpler to play but has a helluva lot more strategic depth to it.

I'm really pissed off. 4 years of waiting for this? What were they thinking??? :notsure:

Moo3? I like it. I like the fact that it doesn't play
the same as every other 4x space game. Although it does feel just a little like Acendency, which I really hated.
I'll give it more time before I form a final opinion but I like it so far..... :)

I think the devs would have been better off spending less time on making it complex and more time making it have more depth of play.

What really bugs me about MOO 3 is that they delayed Gal Civ's release for a month. Personally I think MOO 3 needed the extra month more than Gal Civ.

I can't understand how anyone could like MOO 3. Not just a matter of taste but it has flaws that are just so basic. The battles take place on a plain field that you cannot see the units. Ship design is meaningless because you there is no cause and effect. Hell, there's no cause and effect in the whole game. I won this evening and I am not even sure how. I won the Orion Senate election. Why? What did I do? These aren't just issues of taste. These are game 101 type things.
