Some good skinners are posting their Icons not performed on Icon Packager (AKA icons for apps. etc.) I also uploaded icons on this section, and after deleted them. It may be interesting to create a section with 'General Purpose Icons' . Or maybe you are awaiting the IconX appearance to create a new Icon Section ?

About 'switching' (very popular term, used a lot by Apple): I recently 'switched' on work, from Mac OS 9 to Mac OSX. The results are good, now i can do more tasks simultaneously, such printing long sizer postcript files and convert to CMYK on Photoshop; the print jobs now are much faster. The reality was this: for creating icons before, i used some Bitmap program. I created the different sizes (as png) needed with a action, saving them always on the same folder. I drag this pngs on a specific folder (ie: 'My Computer') While is opened Icon Sushi (freeware), i drag inside it the pngs, then click Create 'Multiple Icon', and the ico file as created. I know that periodical back-ups are needed. My hard-Disk (a Quantum 9.5 Gb on a Mac G3 on my work) was crashed on the 3d month after the purchase. Fortunately, i always make one back-up of new files any friday, on Magneto-Opticals (now in CD-r/rw too). With low prices CDR/RW, there's no reason to make back-ups, specially making designs/skins, that uses lots of MB and lots of work.

welllll.... when begin this? The only thing that i miss on desktopx is the hotkey to show/hide the containers/objects on top. Other think that i miss is on Windows shell: MacOS is more intuitive. I don't mean that the perfect shell must be like MacOS, but: it must remember the 'show way' on a folder, if you make a folder viewed as 'list', it must be viewed as 'list' when you open it (it will also remember last position). Make icons are easy depending your ability using designing programs, not using Icons Changing programs, such Iconworkshop. Iconworkshop it's a great program, that allows you to edit the icon graphics and add some special effect as dropped shadows. But, is very hard to create the icons by zero using this kind of programs. To change the system icons or edit/create the ICONS FILES, Workshop (and others such Microangelo, Icon Sushi), these are your needed programs.
