I purchased the DLC and started a new game but do not see any changes to the game? What am I missing. I do see all the files are downloaded and is in the proper areas. Do you not see any changes until a certain point in the game?
Did you see a new splash screen on startup? When you settled your first colony did it prompt you to choose a government? If not it's not installed correctly. Try doing a "verify files" in Steam.
Until now all thing which happens in intrigue are just changing values of different mechanics in game for a couple of turns.
There was a crises with a space monster what destroyed a planet. Yes the planet was gone but I never saw a space monster. In fact values changed really happens doesn't anything..
But take a look at steam reviews. Mostly positive BUT nearly all good new reviews are from short term players with playtime less than 50 hour.
Long term player reviews are only a few and mostly negative!
But that's exactly what I sad a couple of days ago in another thread:
Stardock simplify and kill that great game for short term gamer who's like it simple and need no time to come in. For all the player they wrote a negative steam review in the last month after playing one to ten hours because its to complexe for them. But those gamer makes two games and and never play it again.
The long term players since beta who's bought all dlcs and the founders are not important because there are only a few!!!
Its very Very sad
Key/top features of Intrigue and of GalCiv3 v3.0 are described here.
I got the new splash screen... I believe. Steam shows it is installed but no, I did not get prompted for a government when I settled my first colony. Right now I have about 12 and I do not see the tax slider in the 'govern' screen either.
Once I get in the game as in starting GC!!! from the stardock launcher all i still see is Crusade wording and no Intrigue...
I ran a validation and was missing 3 files... Started a new game and still after first colony nothing asked about needing a government.
Ok, I was going to tell you how to do a validate and make sure you were starting a new game, but it seems you've done that. The new splash screen says Intrigue on it, and once you're at the galaxy screen looking at your new home world, you should see new tabs at the top for government and market. If you don't, you've definitely got an install problem and I'm out of suggestions. Hopefully a developer or support person will help.
Hi, I had the same problem. Its a Steam problem. It says its installed after buying it, but it really isn't. I unchecked Intrigue in DLC list and rechecked it. As soon as I rechecked Intrigue manually, the download started.
Speak for yourself. I’m a long term player too, but I’ve shelved GalCiv 3 for a long time after it came out of beta. Simply because I didn’t really like the final product enough to put a lot of playing hours in it. I was used to the polished final version (including expansions) of GalCiv 2 and like many players thought vanilla GalCiv 3 was a GalCiv 2 light with better graphics. The mechanics (especially the infamous wheel) didn’t click with me and I found the game quite tedious at that time.
That really changed when Crusade came out since I finally had the feeling that my choices mattered. With Intrigue they took that to the next level. I finally have that one more turn itch back that I used to have with the former GalCivs. So while you say they simplified the game, I think that they streamlined it really well and made the mechanics much better.
To each his own I guess, but don’t generalize ‘long term players’ as being only players who want the game to be really complex. Where you say complex, I say tedious.
