what's the greatest movie monster of all time?

what's the greatest movie monster of all time?

Tokyo Beware!

For me, it's the monster from Colverfield.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield_%28creature%29   I love the conept of a monster on a rapage not because it's evil, but because it's scared, and seeing it from a regular Joe's point of view make it all themore terrifying.

1) Jaws. I mean...come on! Getting killed by the thing you can't see combined with man's classic fear of being eaten by a shark. Plus the music made me a John Williams fan for life. A true classic. If Quint's U.S.S. Indianpolis story doesn't chill you, then you ain't breathing.

2) Alien. Along the lines of Jaws in that you don't really get a good look at the creature until the end. Great cinematography.

3) The Thing. I have this on DVD and, since other people have brought it up, agree it is a really good "monster" flick. I won't spoil it but this movie does a fantastic job with the slow escalation of paranoia. Plus, great early 80's monster effects!

wow i am surprised no one has said the T-Rex from Jurassic park was there fav yet.

So hares my top 3
1 the raptors from Jurassic park 1,2, &3
Because they’re smart and they’re not just some big thing in a city rampaging a stooping on every thing. The raptors will adapt and plus thanks to genetic engineering they my be a reality one day.

2 the scarabs from the mummy
being eaten alive by those things just freaks my out.

3 the Borg!

Ohhh the scarabs from the mummy is a good choice...freaky little bastards they are..

Alien, without a doubt. Latches onto your face, bursts outta' your belly, and then proceeds to hack and slash anything that gets in it's way? Giant lizards have nothing on Aliens.

Though not really a 'movie' monster, The best monster has got to be the Dalek.
Why?

1. How cool is a monster that looks like a giant salt shaker with a plunger stuck to it
2. The Dalek has to be one of the longest running monster on TV. (been going since the 60's)!
3. EXTERMINATE!

Ok, truth be told, the scarist movie for me was Election 2004. The ending of that horrifies me to this very day
