Stargate Invasion is a total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment and Diplomacy . As of this time, there is no FINAL release date yet for this mod.

  

 

The mod will be built in 2 halves.  The first is the Pegasus side, I.E. Humans, Wraith and Asurans, with the Pirates being a classified race at the moment.  The second part of the mod, will add in the Asgard and Goa'uld races to the mix, we will even be creating a separate version of the mod as well, which will just be Humans, Asgard and Goa'uld, with the Lucien Alliance as the Pirates for that half.

I advise quality over rushing. After all, Star Wars and Star Trek mods have a huge fanbase by default and as such can afford partial releases.

Entrance is important. Tease 'em until they can take it no more and then, when they are ready to hunt you down and tie you to your desk until you finish the damn thing, release a spit-and-polish shiny mod which will draw ooooh's and aaaah's from the crowd as they are dazzled by its sheer awesomeness (yeah, I watched Kung Fu Panda, so what :p )

Deliver with style, that's what I say. :)

Hey, i just want to say hi again and great job on the progress. I see that the request for a beta is taking up some room here on the forum... I hope those certain people will realize that a red (not yet) was right in front of their faces.

I like the fact that you want to make this mod go the extra mile by making it look as if it was the original game itself(or close to it). If you need any ideas on some balancing or certain game play issues, feel free to ask. :CONGRAT:

A small update, I have started work on another station, to replace Valhalla for this portion of the mod. Valhalla might show up in the second half, of the mod, but for now I have started on the Ancient version of the station, and I personally think it is going to turn out great for now. Anyhow, I just wanted to give you that little update, you will all get pictures later on, when i have more to show of it.

Ok just to add to my post earlier (If anyone read it (you'll like the ideas)) - I was thinking about how there have been a lot of ships in stargate that have taken large amounts of damage caused by the blast wave from a ship exploding, anyway I thought it might be cool to have some type of damage be done to all (even ally) ships near by an exploding one-If you like this idea you could possibly do this by having all (or just larger) ships have a passive ability that when they die to make a low damage wave in a large radius around them and a second high damage wave in a small radius around them (Closer you are more damage you take)Btw whats the difference between the normal bc304 and the phoenix?Thats all,Bloodfang99


The idea of damage when a ship explodes is something that we are working on, and hopefully have a working version soon, even if it isnt perfect.

The difference between the 304 and the Phoenix is that the Phoenix is more advanced,stronger weapons, and a few specials that I would like to see on her.

There will be both versions. The Asurans in the mod (not cannon) can build supergates to send ships faster.

Just a stupid question, but don't the Free Jaffa and the Lucien alliance have the same types of ships? I should think that the Asgard would be better suited as a race than the Lucien Alliance.

And, (even though the Prometheus is technicaly a battlecruiser) why aren't you guys making the Prometheus and Daedalus class ships capital ships?

the Lucien Alliance will most likely have more then just Goa'uld ships, and we arent going to worry about them or the Jaffa or Asgard just yet, we are on the first half of the mod.

The Prometheus and Daedalus Class ships are not capital ships because they are not big enough to be capital ships, and not armed heavily enough.

Just wanted to toss in my 2 cents.

First, I read through the entire thread yesterday (yea, i had a little free time), and I just have to say it looks awesome! from what I can tell from the screenshots, it looks to me like the ships are as, if not better, detailed than the stock TEC/Vasari/Advent ships.

I just had a couple inqiries regarding strike craft. First, what will you do aesthetically to diffentiate between the two models? Large missiles on the wings of the bombers like modern fighters and big lasers (for lack of a better term) on thewings of the fighters like Goa'uld Death Gliders?

Also, what are we looking at for bombers on the Wraith and Asuran side of things?

As of now, no. There are too many hard-coded limits on the cloaking buff. These limits make the ship unable to move, fire, use abilities, etc. So until that is loosened, cloaking will probably not be in the mod.

you will be able to tell the difference between Fighters and bombers for the Tau'ri as they will be different models when it gets down to the final release. As of right now, Asurans and Wraith will not have Bombers, but that could change for the Asurans.

This would be a good idea, but in Cannon SG the phase technology would have to be shut down for the ship to jump to Hyperspace... thus wouldnt be to practical... in theory.

that happens in the show, though with Earth, which is considerably bigger. also what about time dilation? too much hard coding?

Actually it might be possible. We could give a planet a buff that would either speed everything within the gravity well up or slow it down. We can modify build times, ship speed, hyperspace charge up, etc. to make it seem like everything is moving faster or slower. The only thing is, the player will be able to tell this is happening whereas in SG-1 and such when they encounter time dilation, the people affected weren't able to tell they were moving faster or slower.

Most people don't know this, but there is a site called Mod DB where you can host and provide updates to people who track your mod. There is a giant base of coders and modelers who can help you progress with this mod a little faster. Not to mention, uploading videos, images, and downloads are a breeze.

Please check it out, I want to subscribe for updates as soon as possible.

Hmmm maybe I could help you with the Mod.
Before SINS I modded Empire at war.... 3 Years....
I was a member of the stargatemodding group. Maybe some Eaw-players remember.
There my positions were Particlecreator, Projectilemaker and Community Stuff (such as Wallpaper, Avatars, Design.....).

And the most important: I'm a big Stargate Fan. I can not say, that I watched every single Episode but nearly all. Also, I like SG-1 more than Atlantis (Although I watched the movie :P ), actually I don't like the Wraith. xD

Well back to topic. I really wanna help you, but I think you create too much ships on your own. Of course it's good to make your fantasy become real in Soase. I know many guys, who made their own ships too. But first, they integrated REAL Stargate ships into their mod (A mod, built up with the original Stargate Mod...).
Well I hope you make more real Stargate ships. That's all I want to say.

However, I started modding SINS a week ago, and it's very similar to eaw's xml base.
Well I'm not going to code much but the particle System needs to be more discovered, I think. There are great possibilities!

All ships that are seen within Stargate Atlantis already have some sort of basic model. We have the Aurora class Ancient warship, the Hive, the 304, the Prometheusus, etc. The only one I think that might not be 'in-progress' is the Wraith Cruiser.

Firstly, before I respond to a couple of posts, I have a bit of an update.

Recently I have been working on a ship, right now that project is classified, but I can tell you when its done, I will be more then happy to show it off. For now though, i have been working on a few stations, one of which is an Anterran version of Valhalla, much smaller in comparison, the other is another version of the Asuran Fighter defense platform, to go hand in hand with the work Derbal is doing on the Stargate Event horizon effects. Here is a picture of the Fighter defense station I have built.

This is our mission as of right now, we are currently attempting to explore all of the Particle Systems abilities, and so far we have gotten it pretty well handled from what I have seen of Derbals Work.

@ derbal: Hmmm. What do you think of an own Page for the Mod? A Free Webspace site, nothing big, with Webspell on it. Then I change the design a bit. The Forums seem to me too unsorted. And there is no space of Introduction into the Mod itself or the Teammembers. Only in Forum posts? Hmmm. Which positions in the Moddingteam are needed?


I have thought about building a free web page to go along with the forums, but for now I am in the middle of getting a new job, and still working at my current job, plus spending time with my girlfriend, and also modding. Im going to start work on a site when i have more time, until then, please use the forums.

For positions, only thing we really need help with is textures.
