Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

What does governors do? I only played breifly, and plan on getting the game again.

*puts arm around his shoulders*  Governors are global commands to reduce monotonous tasks.  Someone will be along to give a better answer.

Quoting Snarkotamus,
*freaking out*

Yeah Autohotkey is extremely versatile. It could also replace a series of keypresses with "stuff", not just a normal hotkey like Ctrl-B.

So you could type b1 to rushbuy the first item in the planet queue and b2 to buy the second. Often I find a command string easier to memorise than a ton of unique hotkeys.

Quoting Snarkotamus,
Now I can do all the things that used to KILL my deflicted wrist with the push of one of 12 special buttons on my gaming keyboard!

In GC many features are "mouse only" - especially anything related to buying/upgrading - so mouse macros are a godsend for the wrist.

The above loop is just the most basic example for "execute while key remains down". But it's a script language. You could run the loop 100 times flat or infinitely until stopped by the same or another key.

You can also limit the key to being "hot" only while the GC window has focus. But I was rusty on my leet scripting skeelz and forgot how that was done. I know I used that before. Sometime... =)

That way those keys could have different functions for every application and your rushbuy (or whatever) macro wouldn't run if you hit the key while writing a forum post.

For the Rushbuy example I worked from the planetary screen because unlike on the global colony list, the click locations are static. That made it a lot easier. Also, refreshing the global colony list (300+ planets...) after every purchase creates noticable lag. "Next colony" creates none. So even if I only want to rushbuy the 10 "new" colonies, I may just weigh down the key and let it run through hundreds of colonies while leaving to get a mug of coffe.

So what? Doing boring and repetitive things is what computers were built for.

But scholar and gentleman? I'm rather a bit... stubborn. Okay, maybe upwards of 2 bits. That game designers consider the mouse the best and only interface to do something doesn't mean I have to agree. IMO, game designers are just people, not all-knowing gods. Merely disagreeing doesn't help me, though, so the interface has to change. =) Sometimes it can be modded / scripted (like in X3) but at other times, only workarounds like Autohotkey will do. Either way, I don't easily take no for an answer.

And it is only a workaround unless you make the script really smart. For instance, AH can detect the colour of a certain pixel on the screen. And only if that pixel is of the colour for "button highlighted / buy available", execute the buy script.

This way one could program a heal bot for a generic MMORPG even if the executable was fortified and protected against tampering with it's memory regions. The script doesn't touch it's memory. It looks at the screen and the colour of the party's health bars...

.

I wonder if we could make a Planetary Buildout macro for DL and DA with this. It would be easy enough to populate tiles so long as the player starts with the same buildings in the same order of availibility every time. The trick is going to be getting the correct structures on the bonus tiles. This color-recognition could be the key.

Maybe he's an evil Snathi.

I think he's the famous general who sat on the "Jettison All" button by mistake that time we were transporting all those diplomats to the big galactic peace conference. Too bad our maintenance/rescue bots had just been configured for a "Repel Breachingg Pods" drill. hehe....err...oops. In any event, the Snathi owe him the Medal of Accidental Obliteration for his eforts on our behalf.

Welcome to the empire, hobo-jack!  Our policy of a "Torian in every pot" seems to be working! ;)

Sounds sweet Loup.  I used to be really good at FPS games a "long" time ago (at least in gaming terms), and won a Doom II tournament.  We just got a Wii, so I've been looking around for good games for that system.  I'd especially like a good RPG sort of game.  Anyone have suggestions?

Recently our planet and people, the Theraphosidae, were visited by earth creatures.  They were no bigger than ourselves which logically means we ate them.  While enjoying the most scrumptious meal I have ever had (for I was among those in the area of the earth creatures' landing) I realized that, while solitary by nature, my people could expand their reach beyond our planet, therefore expanding our choice of flesh to satiate our hunger.  I fought, killed, and ate all other Theraphosidae that sought to be the Web Lord to lead our people into the vast emptiness of space.  Our first hunts in other system proved very successful, with every sentient invertebrate tasting better then the last! Then we happened upon a large Kzinti force slowly devouring a very resilient race!  Seeing a kindred flame in their fierce hunger for battle and its tasty spoils, I, in a most unprecedented move, offered an alliance with this Kzinti force.  They agreed, seeing that in this particular situation a swift victory meant much less carnage wrought by the weapons of our ships, and many more captives to hunt, and therefore eat!  As a consequence of these events I aim to join with the Kzinti Empire in battle!

Welcome, Web Lord Dominatus!  It is indeed gratifying to meet another species that understands the natural law of the galaxy.  Those who are strong, cunning, and swift, are meant devour and subjugate inferior species.  We have also learned that some few other non-Kzinti can possess the heart of a Hero and win favor with the Fanged God.  May your people spin a web of galactic conquest across the stars in service to the Empire!

Hehe, well-said Dominatus. :congrat:

It's been a while since I played a Wii...couldn't even think of a RPG game for one that I played either.  I know I liked Mario Party and Super Monkey Ball for ithe though...  Resident Evil was rough to play with a wiimote.

What the - just got an email from stardock, that my nick "Rockhard" was in use >:(

Thank you for your interest in Stardock software!

In order to better serve our customers, we are consolidating our account records. As part of that process we are changing our policy to require a unique nickname on all of our sites.

Your current Impulse/Stardock.NET account nickname is already in use (it is the same as another user who already had the nickname before you created your account) so we need your help. Please follow the link listed to update your account information. Use the email account at which you received this communication followed by your password to log into the site.

How did I get to create an account in the first place?? Changed to Rockhard-xii (eRepublik nick), but christ... bet it is just one of the admins that want the nick badly #:(

Rockhard-xii - the artist formerly known as Rockhard :hrmph:

It says "all of our sites", meaning that there could be someone registered on a forum since 2002 with that nickname. As long as it doesn't affect your metaverse profile/stats... :)

Hey guys.

I too got the same email. Im not entirely happy with having to change....folks know me across 4 forum sites here in stardockia as neilo and id rather not change at all.

I think in my case the person who has the neilo nick before me, was in fact me when i regged at wincustomize many years ago. When i then bought GC2 and regged here i used a different email, not at that point realizing that the two were one in the same.

I emailed support about a merger. no chance you did some thing similar Rock?

Have a tracked vehicle with a BIG gun?

[[[ http://drakenhoth.webs.com/armedforces.htm ]]]

Why, yes i do! ANd just you wait. I have an awsome and detailed musclebound pic of a Kzin art on the way aswell. I have grown insainly awsome with teh MS paint it seems. x3 The current big gun tracked vehical, the largest on that page, is called by Allied Forces the Demon Tank. Cause it is big, toots a Gauss Cannon that shoots three foot long 20mm spikes at insaine speeds, and has three large Dor Chals. Dor chal is the Kzinti Las Cannon. Newer models have those replaced with disrupters. As the Axis have now done researching Disruption technologys and trials are underway with the Ring World Special forces and decorated storm trooper brigades to further enhance and refine the tech.

Absolutely what I thought Neilo - I've been corresponding with the tech-support but they keep giving me some dodgy answer. I think it comes down to some sort of mail mix up as well... but try explaining that to them.

I could be Noct - still, that is just too buggy if you can have people grab the same nicknames and then some years later suddenly find the problem :| Usually forums etc. are making this impossible
