Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

This has probably been discussed before but....

Are there any tricks to getting around a Runtime error when doing a massive ship upgrade? In my case 9500 ships. My system has 4Gb of physical memory, dual core processor, virtual memory set at 5Gb min, 8Gb max.

Ahh, the out of memory saga.  The story goes GCII is limited to 2GB memory (as are other 32 bit applications...don't know why MS and a mulitude of geeks say 32 bit has a 4GB limit).  Your video card must also be considered.

The tricks are those you know...disable video features...reload after upgrade but before save...disable other apps...anything to reduce memory usage.  Map size and number of planets is obvious.  But, in my experience the posture of ships is important.  I have upgraded as few as 6,200 and as many as 12,000 ships in DA V2.01 with 700+ planets before getting the OOM error.  13,500 in DL with 450+ planets.

Mumble has upgraded 17,000 in DL...Motti 15,000 in DA.

I'm not an authority on this issue, just a fellow seeker of the holy grail.

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:

Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available.

I give up on this suposid forums crap. Guess it simply is not compatable with army provider net. *shrugs and goes back to doodling, is nearly done a nude yet very awsomly done pair of Kzin. Male and female, then goes to buy spore and maims stuff.*

Hey guys.

I too got the same email. Im not entirely happy with having to change....folks know me across 4 forum sites here in stardockia as neilo and id rather not change at all.

I think in my case the person who has the neilo nick before me, was in fact me when i regged at wincustomize many years ago. When i then bought GC2 and regged here i used a different email, not at that point realizing that the two were one in the same.

I emailed support about a merger. no chance you did some thing similar Rock?

Got a new mail from tech - seems quite abrupt so I'm guessing there is not much to do...

Quoting techsupport,

Hello,

Essentially, we are consolidating our databases, and where it wasn't necessary to require unique names before, it is now. We apologize for any inconvenience.

I've upgraded 12K with no problem. ToA's big issue is the massive lag that develops once you have a large number of ships.

Rock...may I be presumptuous and interpret in tech supportise (advisor dialect)?

"Essentially, we are consolidating our database"   I was hired to fix the SD forums and this is my solution.

"where it wasn't necessary to require unique names before (ok, I know it was but), it is now.    I can't figure this shit out.

"We (they) apologize for any inconvenience"   tough shit (polite), screw you and everybody that looks like you (street).

Thanks. That was without an economic boom, and I never did manage to upgrade those 9500 ships.

I don't think so. It's what I'm shooting for. Though, yesterday, I actually started a <gasp> giga map!!! I'm in serious economic trouble half way through year 0, but I think I'll pull out of it OK. Anomalies sure are spread out on a giga map.

Thanks everyone!

Wow, I'm eager to see how it goes, Ferrel. :)

Check out some of our threads over at the Core Ferrel.  Maybe you'll find a few tweaks with which to get a medium map score over 300k.

I'm doing OK on the giga map. Half way through year 1 and just about ready for a swindle. Giga maps sure play different though.

Now that you mention it, I have 9 that are Class 30 or better. With an econ boom, my two class 38s are each making a whopping 4000+ BCs per turn.

This reminds me: Do the extreme planets generally have a better tile count? I can't remember. I set the Extreme Planets to "Frequent" in this game to motivate the Arceans to research Weather Control, so I have lots and lots of them.

~A short time later~

And here's what they got me:

Still wasn't enough to retake 3rd from SkullSplitter, so I'll have to give it another year.
