Planned Parenthood isn't completely about abortion. The mission statement of Planned Parenthood is to destroy as many lives as possible, through encouraging sex by removing the visible consequences. WTF? Are you serious? You really need to do some research before you spout completely vile information. You may not agree with Planned Parenthood, but that doesn't negate that they do good work for those women who need medical services and can't always af

Yes, sexually active kids in middle school are the result of sexualizing them through sex education. This goes to show that sex education is a success Do you have evidence that kids weren't sexually active in middle school prior to the implementation of sex education programs? One stat in Maine is that sexual activity among middle schoolers has dropped 10% in the last ten years -- seems to be that education is actually working.
Here's information on a recent study about this: WWW Link
How many die from abortions this year? Add that to the number of babies who died. Then we have the real death toll from abortion. I bet it is a LOT higher now. You seem to think that making abortion illegal will stop it from happening. That is simply not the case -- and you only have to look at Nicaragua to see this. It outlawed all abortion in November of 2006 (previously allowing "theraputic abortions) and in less than a year there have been 82 docu
Jythier -- you need to do some research on this issue. Abortion has been around for centuries -- it is not new. In fact, the abortion rate has been steadily declining since the 1980s. Besides, the US isn't meant to be a state where religion controls politics. It is not a theocracy.
Whan abortion is legal, women die. When abortion is not even an issue, women die. As far as I know, with the exception of those living this day, every woman born has died. How very pendantic of you. Stats show that making abortion illegal does not reduce the number of women seeking abortion -- all it does is increase the number of women who die from them. You'll have to forgive my "insensitivity", but I struggle to
banish the self-loathing and doubt -- you know you are fabulous. hopefully she will realize that, too. good luck.
I think the 'right' stance on abortion is legal abortion for special cases (such as life of the mother at risk) but no more convenience abortions. When abortion is illegal, women die. Around the world more than 200 women die each day from unsafe abortions. There are estimates that prior to Roe v. Wade, between 5,000 and 15,000 women died annually in the US due to unsafe abortions. Making abortion illegal is not the answer.
Well in our case here, two out of three of my children made a decision to "abstain." So it can work. They are telling us otherwise and we are falling for their lies. I know quite a few young people who are "abstainiing" but it's not news worthy. KFC, did your other son tell you he wasn't waiting until marriage, or did you find out when his girlfriend was pregnant? How do you know your other kids are telling you the truth? And what did you do different
And if you're saying that it does, yet want it to be legal... well, I just don't know what to say to you. Everything that is emotionally scarring should be illegal? That seems a stretch. I'd also venture to guess that carrying, giving birth to, and raising an unwanted child can be emotionally scarring. Having to go to the underground to get it done was more of a picture of what you're really doing to yourself, and y
t's all about priorities and time management. I was basically a single parent from Jan-April every year which is most of the school year. My husband wasn't around to help with schoolwork or any other household chore. I had three kids in three years. I had laundry, doctor appointments etc. What about the parents out there who are HomeSchooling 7 kids? You think they don't have laundry and cooking? KFC-- You've made this comment before (about being like a
I'm so excited for you guys! Welcome home Adrian -- I imagine the boys and Izzy are tickled to death to have their Daddy home. Brandie-- what the hell are you doing on JU at a time like this????
While nothing I could write could ever be adequate -- just know that you are in my thoughts.
you all need to read the story about the 75 year old woman who took a hammer to the Comcast offices -- the story was blogged about today on www.dcist.com. It's priceless. Maso, maybe you could hire her to come help with the coffee situation!
whinger = whiner and, no, maso -- I don't think it is whinging/whining at all. Hopefully if you correct them enough, they'll just get it right the first time!
Okay this is several comments ago and slightly off topic, but Gid, I'd really be interested in seeing if those quotes hold up if you really try to get insurance. From my personal experience, they seem exceptionally low. When I first moved to DC, I was working in a restaurant and uninsured so I got my own insurance -- despite just being for me, a healthy 25 y.o. at the time, it cost me $263 a month. That allowed me 2 doctors visits a year and, if I remember correctly 50% copay after my $1000 d
It looks great -- especially for your first hat!
Eek. Mi espanol esta (como se dice "rusty'?), pero lo leo y lo entiendo un pocito! I've just started to brush up on my spanish with "coffee break spanish podcasts" -- so hit me up in a couple of months and I might be able to say something coherent!
Oh, LH, I hadn't realized this was only a short trip home, I had thought this was for good (well, for as long as "for good" could be). I'm sorry you all had to say goodbye again, and will keep HW in my thoughts and prayers (along with you and the little ones!).
Right now I am online, Isabella is playing with the strings on my pants and babbling at me, and I just finished eating crackers and chocolate frosting. It sounds perfect. And who wouldn't be happy with that adorable little face looking up at them (the chocolate is just a pure bonus).
I'm exhausted just reading about it...
Good luck, my friend. You'll be missed during your absence, but we will all be looking forward to your return! You and Colleen will be in my thoughts tomorrow and in the weeks to come as you recover.
I usually pay about $170 here. That seems really high -- hopefully changing the light bulbs will help. My highest electricity bill has been $25 -- when I had the AC running for a good part of the month. Granted, I'm only one person, but I also use a bunch of different saving techniques. For example, all my electronics (tv, microwave) are plugged into power strips and when they aren't in use the power strip is turned off -- this helps to e
Congrats, D! It's nice to see you so happy!
while I don't always (or even often) comment, I do always read your stuff, FS. I don't find it at all boring or whiny -- and I'm glad that you aren't going to stop blogging!
