Negative B plus or minus square root of B squared minus four times A and C all divided by two times A.
Is that the quadratic formula? Isn't AX^2+BX+C=0 the quadratic formula? More relevantly -- I'm the opposite of you, lobsterhunter. I can do math, no problem, but english was never my strong point...

Hey Tex -- Congrats on your house. Another way to reduce electricity is to unplug vampire appliances when they aren't in use. TVs/radios/microwave/etc draw a lot of electricity when they aren't even on -- by unplugging them you can really cut down.

What crocodile tears? Her eyes may have welled up but there were no tears -- why is everyone making such a bloody big deal of it? I'm no Hillary supporter, but the focus on her crying is nothing short of misogynistic.
She won by what? a few hundred votes?
Nearly 8,000.

Dave: You should tell her to ask her husband to contact his congressperson in the DC office and ask for a case manager who can help speed up the process. This is what they are there for -- and they are usually very good about getting the ball rolling at a much faster speed. Since everything is photocopied (good thinking!) she can fax them a copy of the green card and they can, hopefully, help get her a replacement in a much more timely fashion. Citizen Services at the British Embassy might al
Shades, Toni has already talked about how much she wants to visit DC, particularly all the museums. So it looks as though DC is on the cards as well. I'm already really excited about this trip. The big hassle at the moment is deciding where we can go and where we won't have time to visit. So many choices, so little time...
Fabulous -- you definitely have a place to stay, and I live very close to public transportation so you guys can use it as a basecamp to explor

What a cool idea, Maso. Like FS, I'm also happy to offer you and Toni a place to stay in DC should you find your way here. Sounds like a fabulous trip!

It seems that the illustrious (?) city of Cambridge Mass. has decided that collecting care packages for US Troops is a forbidden activity. This is the sentence I was questioning. They didn't decide the activity was forbidden -- they decided it couldn't take place inside the polling place. Also, to your point about how it was political--I don't know. I wasn't trying to defend what happened, but rather shed light on the nuances of the situation. Also a

Sometimes I wonder if you even read the articles that you link to...the issue wasn't whether or not to send care packages -- it was whether or not you could collect donations in a polling place. Remember, no political activities can occur in the polling place --that's why the poll workers have to stand in the freezing cold! And, in the last paragraph the Mayor said that the removal was a communication breakdown and that the city would work with the boy scouts to make sure that their

I'm sorry, Zoo -- the last two years have certainly been trying for you. I'm glad you wrote about it, though -- hopefully getting it all out will help a little.

I'm pretty sure everything on my iPod is considered embarrassing -- I'm told I have horrible taste in music. But I like it so that is all that matters!

Hey Marcie-- I missed the diabetes article. Seems like the health issues never end for you -- but I'm glad you are sorting it out. Congrats on the five pounds!

Again, though, you strike me as more centrist than most, shades Ha! I've tried for years to call myself a moderate, but those who know me just laugh in my face.

In my experience with liberals, I have to say that, to a person, every AMERICAN liberal I have known fits that very description You probably need to meet more american liberals then.

Actually, that had nothing to do with your claim. I read it. Do you have another? If you really think the link has "nothing" to do with my claim, you might want to try reading it again... For example it states: "Significantly, the abortion rate for 2003 was roughly equal in developed and developing regions—26 and 29, respectively—despite abortion being largely illegal in developing regions." Also: "Africa, Asia and Latin America had th

There is no doubt whatsoever that educating for sex is actually working...and as a result---children are sexualized and many, way too many of them are acting out sexually as a result. Do you have an sources to back that up? Mine is from the Maine Youth Risk Behavior Survey. Opinions aren't facts, folks.

Research doesn't change the first two facts. Your opinion doesn't make it fact. PP provides birth control and abortions -- your spin on it is just that -- spin. Show me where PP encourages underage sex (and providing birth control is not the same as encouragement). And as far as I know, no one can prove when "life" begins and that is why this debate continues. Please do not pretend that your opinion is the only one that matters or pass it off as fact.
