I understand how uptight you would be last week. No matter how wrong an allegation of child abuse may be, it is a serious matter and sometimes liars are believed. Fortunately the liar in this case was not credible and things turned out better than you expected. No matter what the situation, having feelings is normal. I'm glad you passed both tests with flying colors. Test one: Did you abuse your children? Test two: Will a calm reaction clear up

I read the article. There is no way for me to tell if it is real or not. As for the move to have Bush lose the election, I haven't seen that, either. Are there other sites that say the same thing?
I've always wondered why our culture thinks that reason is superior to emotion. Reason is based on facts, but the problem with facts is that we never know all of the facts. We only know a few of them. On the other hand if we choose to love rather than hate, we wouldn't have to wait until all the facts came in before we determined whether to start a war or not. Self interest always seems more reasonable and more rational, but if you look at the whol
If you don't use oil, then it would make sense. However, many of the Muslim countries have oil which makes the United States have a good reason to want to have governments that are friendly to us.
Jill, I don't mean that heaven and hell are the same as earth, but that just as there are both on earth, there would be both in eternity. If you've never read it, read C.S. Lewis' The Great Divorce. You will find his view of eternity refreshingly different. It also isn't very religious even though it is Christian. Another thing you shouldn't miss is the book on tape version of the Screwtape Letters. It is delightful. The Christiani
Good quote.
Courage is a very important attribute to have. I've been lucky, I've had it all of my life.
I'm glad you survived and overcame this crisis. Good for you. I have another saying. Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.
It would be great to believe in only heaven, but on earth many people live in hell. If there is an eternity why would it be any different. As far as getting used to being deprived, that could happen and probably does. Hell isn't punishment, hell is a reality. If you live your life without God, then you will die in the same state. If you live your life with God then you will die in the same state. As far as I can see, the normal state of the world
Actually, I've read studies similar to this before in other studies about the brain. (Not on studies about politics.) I don't remember the title of the book. But I'll see if I can find it. As I recall the book said that we rationalize what we feel and think that we are rational when in fact we based our decisions on emotions rather than reasons.
You have a point, Joe, I don't think that Bush is a racist. As long as you have money, Bush is your man. I think that Democrats do exploit minorities, because once they are in office they do nothing about issues pertinent to minorities. That being said, if you are poor or need help for whatever reason, you are better off with a democrat in office. Clinton was very conservative but when UPS went on strike, he supported the strike.
Sorry you have to go through this. She must be awfully bored if she has to play these sorts of games.
Bed's the best thing. You probably won't read this till tomorrow. Sorry you are sick.
These are all true, but what does the scripture say about worship. This may be an idea that could come from a wordsearch.
Sounds like a Swede to me.
You are completely correct. I admit that I haven't been much fun. It isn't because of my faith but because of overdoing. So I have taken a vacation and done mostly fun. Just thinking about going back to my life, wears me out. There is so much to do and so few to do it. But I will try to lighten up and if I get too serious, use the time which I go to Salem to visit my Mom, daughter, sister-inlaw and brother to have fun. I'm also coming
Your post reminded me of how I felt when I first started attending A.A. I do believe in God and find faith in Christ easy at this point. But then I felt that when they spoke about a higher power, I felt that the group itself functioned as a higher power. I think that when a group of people is supporting each other that God is in their midst. It is very hard to believe is you are trained to be a rationalist. Even I with all my religious training fi
It is easy to have an opinion, we all have them. But I have friends whose lives were wasted by drugs. On the other hand some medications make it possible for others to live a normal life. All medications can be abused and most of the illegal drugs have a pharmeceutical purpsoe. But to wholesale say that illegal drugs are all right and pharmeceuticals are bad, is an exaggeration. That being said, I have read studies which show that chewin
This is so important. My husband and I have lost that because we have become so serious as the result of our daughters' illness. But I am working to get it back.
It's funny, but my realization that I couldn't have a "perfect table" at Easter though at first disappointing was something I quickly got over/ I surrendered quickly this time. So maybe I am making progress.
Thank you Jill, I hesitate to write to you about religion because you are a good and decent person. I hope that you find what you are looking for. It is easier to talk about God to those whose lives are a mess and they need saving. What you need is something else. I don't know what that is, but I think all of us need to know that we have a purpose and a mission in life that is important, not just for now but for the future. Being a mother is c
Smart man.
Christianity is exclusive because Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except by me." As long as Bhuddism is a philosophy then it is not incompatible with Christianity. But if you worship Buddha as some do, then it is imcompatible. Christians have no right to be arrogant. We are all considered sinners who are saved by grace and not by our own merits but Christ's sacrifice. I would like to say that anyone is
Jimbo, I love to read your posts, but you leave out the punchline. Whatever happened to Sam's husband? What did your friend learn about on the Bagdad express. Are these secrets dangerous to tell?
Good advice. I'll have to read more of these. You have a lot of good blogs here. I will have to put you on my favorites list.
