First of all, to dispose of this quickly, the "fellow veterans" and "medical officer" you refer to are part of the "Swift Boat" ad, which you must know (or should) is a provable falsehood from beginning to end. You have to lie about Kerry's military record because you know if you stuck to the truth about it, you'd lose. There is an election night phase in Political Machine, very much like President Elect (the SSI game you mentioned) or for that matter very much like real life. The results come in one state at a time, from the eastern time zone working west. My only quibble about it is that in PM the returns flash by too fast. I admired especially its flexibility, allowing you to set up almost any election situation with a great range of candidates to choose from. Present company excepted, still a better election simulator than any of those which have followed. I wish I could run it on my current machine! <b
Haven't downloaded it yet (have to wait til tonight) but I do hope an AI-vs-AI capability can be added, if it hasn't been already. I want to be able to experiment with pitting certain candidate types against others, without having to manage (or mis-manage) one of the campaigns. Also, re: the discussion of a "strategy map" (in another thread), here's an interesting example: http://www.edwardsforprez.com/dailykos.html
I'm hoping the final version will include an AI vs. AI capability, allowing you to test one candidate against another without having to actively manage (or mis-manage) either campaign. Also, I'm having trouble quitting the game; the quit button(s) seem to do nothing more than lock up the computer, requiring a reboot to get out.
