Stardock troubleshooting (at https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/496/161/general-galactic-civilizations-iii-troubleshooting#GraphicIssues ) says to turn off RAPTR, the AMD Gaming Evolved application. Seems like it might have fixed it!

I agree the guard thing is fixed - getting Steam to do its thing helped. I sure can't see a scroll bar - and the screen doesn't react the way I would expect of something with a scroll bar!

Hi guys - Ralegh here - I'm back to 4x gaming, and giving GavCilIII a spin. Lots of great progress since the alpha, but I have a list of "issues" to submit. 1. I bought a trade ship from another race. When I sent it to a planet I got "Cannot trade. Trade ship has no assigned home planet." I tried sending to one of my planets, and I tried upgrading it, but couldn't seem to fix it. Can we provide a way to assign a home planet? (Note the potential '

You really should start from the ground up instead of just re-organizing a GalCiv1 guide. A lot of GalCiv1 strategies can be thrown out the window due to significant changes in the AI. *shrug* I thought about starting from scratch, but since most of the economy, trading, and political systems are the same, it didn't seem to make much sense to t

PQ is still there, just hidden under the hood, and with the additional effect of the number of tiles available - I'll try to make that clearer in the text. I don't know yet whether the economic impact of colonizing poor planets is still there, but it probably is - I will find out! Destab, Terror Stars and spelling - thanks guys. More!

I usually try to come in with enough troops to be able to use normal combat, and hence save some cash. However, if I am desperate (or short on troops in the vicinity), I will go in with less, and choose the invasion tactic to help me... I compare my numbers * my soldiering bonus with their numbers * their soldiering bonus, and factor in different invasion tactics. I usually try to choose ones that don't damage the PQ (since I want the planet later, and this is the one thing I can't reb

Glad to be back - (and to have made Rear Admiral)... Pls explain "Terror Stars require lesser constructors overall, does not attract AIs' attention unlike cultural starbases and you don't even have to pay the 5000bcs/TS if you do it in an alpha strike." I don't follow. Updating the strat guide is a good idea...

AFAIK, the easiest Maso settings even in 1.12.079: Alterans and Dregin NOT on top IQ (others on the top one) Common planets Lots of diplo (plus I take War party/+ATT/+Repair) Strategy: - Find the minors and the Alts/Dregs ASAP. Use them to swap techs, and sell techs to them. (The cash from this is critical.) - Establish trade routes with the other majors - need the relationship help. - Research priorities: Habitat; Diplo; Manufacturing improvements (all of

Interesting thread. Guys who are building all the morale boosters for their lower morale worlds should be careful: the cutoff (based on the PQ multiplier) usually means the extra people you can support are effectively worthless. Better to reduce the pop, or allow those planets to have a morale that stops the pop growing. I NEVER build multimedia center, vr center, spin control, secret police etc for morale - I've never seen a planet that made a profit from it. Going for 100 morale mak

Cosmetic: "Good alignment" view - the white one - leaves info in the ship window (bottom of screen near right end) overwritten and illegible... Crash: I am occasionally getting a 'dump' - the game drops from memory entirely. I will try to notice any pattern... (Would smartexception show anything in these circumstances? If so, what email do I send the log to?)

Hmm. Thanks guys. AFAIK, I didn't use cheats, and my cash at the end was very negative from the last invasion - maybe that was it... I'll try playing the last few turns again, and this time leave my cash over -500 and see if that makes a difference.

I sure hope they kill this piece of cheese - but I suppose it is hard, since the opposite (always inflicting the PQ and improvement losses, even if the invasion fails) could lead to invasions of 1 mill troops just to wreck the planet...

I just won a game (1.10A) and it says my score is zero - why? I was trying out some of the cheese from the forum, so I am not too unhappy, but this is the first time I have ever seen a score of 0... Without knowing, I assume the scoring system detected something I did and deemed it ineligible for a score: but what? (I have no mods etc.)

This stuff gets really messy to discuss. Some of the effects people are describing are due to RACE, some are due to ALIGNMENT (relative to you), some are due to that AI's GAME STRATEGY in that particular game, and some are due to MILITARY (relative to you). I suspect that some of it is even due to the AI intelligence setting! I think the Torians/Drengin value trade income the most, and the Yor/Arceans the least. (These latter two will attack me even if the loss of trade cripples the

Hmm - RayChua, just so you know, I actually disagree. I suspect (kind of strongly) that the bug was already fixed (in 071), and there is also a deliberate effect. (Based on Fogboy saying that there would be a deliberate effect.) I know Cari's post said something different. We will see what happens. In the meantime, I note that I specifically asked Frogboy about this in the context of the manual, and he approved the words that are in there. So until the functionality changes (or I am dir

Um, RayChua, I haven't done any math to justify this, but - from memory of direct observation - starfighters get +1 immediately, and another +1 from shipyards. That alone is enough for me! (I started with the maximum, +50%, and toned it down to afford speed again.)

What Arcturus is talking about is exactly true, but is a different thing to the effect I was explaining. The effect is easily observable on the Domestic Policy Screen, since tax rate doesn't affect "Actual Expenditure" (the figure to the right of the Spend Rate slider) in any other way. Start your slider at a low % of tax, and move it forward, watching for the Total Active Spending to decline... (May seem to kick in at 37 or 40% if your economy is small, but that is just rounding.)<br

Tristan - you've just built lots of manufacturing and research enhancements. If I am in military or social mode, I am often in 100% spend. Its only research (for me) where my capacity to spend is often lots more than my income...
