Oh, and as a p.s. note, until I can get the pictures corrected in my mods, I'll just use one of the pictures that came with the GalCiv game in my mods. I'll still be looking for and collecting pictures for my mods, they just won't be included until they can be changed to the correct bit mode. OR, if anyone out there would like to help out, you can also send me a correct .jpg and .pcx picture for my mods and I'll include it in a readme in my updated mods, or if it's a

Hey again, Bill. :) Well, the GalCiv Writer is working great, and I see that my mods finally reached the library, but I remember reading from some other posts in the forum that some pictures were turning out messed up in-game, due to some 8-bit or 16-bit picture problem, and I noticed that was happening with my pictures. Now, I know there is some program on the internet that can be downloaded to solve this problem, but for some reason the website is denying me permission to downlo

I saw a few threads discussing how some pics were showing up all messed up in-game because they had to switch 16-bit photos to 8-bit photos or something like that, and while my events did show up and work in-game, my pics faced that same problem, and I'm wondering if that's what is keeping my events from reaching the library. Now, I have Jasc Photoshop Pro 7 and MS Paint at home, and using my Photoshop Pro, I can change jpgs to pcxs and vice versa, but for the life of me I can't fi

Hmm. My mods haven't been approved yet, oddly enough. I'm pretty sure they work, because I added them to my data folder and have encountered them myself in-game. Well, just thought I'd drop by and let everyone know I have 7 new events made, which I will submit in July. They are: 1. Controversial Books 2. Famine 3. General Washburn 4. Historical Site (from before) 5. Mafia 6. Legendary Mercenary 7. Open Revolt Hope you enjoy the 5 mods once

Yep, I remember reading it in another post, and double checked that in my mods. I submitted them last night, at least 5 of the 6. But, I learned from the librarian about the very stict (and IMHO, very ridiculous) rules about no picture downloading and no diskette usage allowed (add that to the equally strict and equally ridiculous rule of no sending or checking email), so, the 6th mod along with my new mod I created today (Famine) will have to wait until the 3rd week of July, when I am visitin

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that I'll be submitting my first six event mods sometime this week. I'll give one last once over just to make sure the pictures look good and to make sure the events will work right. Here is a list of what you can expect 1. Area 51 2. Cold War 3. Secret Weapon 4. Constitution 5. Historical Site 6. Rain Forest

Hey Bill. I've managed to fix all but one of the errors myself last night, with the one that I still need help fixing being the Permission error, which is happening on both the original version and the latest version of GalCivWriter. I have very limited access to the internet, a few hours a weeks, and no email access while I'm back at home here. I was out of town at my grandma's the other day when I emailed you, with GalCivWriter and the GalCiv game with the latest mods

I have some modding ideas, but since I keep getting errors whenever i try to use the Writer program, and am not much of an graphics artist, you are welcome to use my ideas if you like. Nuclear Melt down/Leak 9. Pollution/Contamination 10. Economic Cris

I just got the GalCivwriter program downloaded, and I've tried it with both the original version and the latest 1.02A version, and I've run into the same two problems with both of them. The first problem I've had is an error message that says some files are missing with the gvbox.ocx . The second problem I've been having, when I'm not encountering that first error, is that it either says it can't find the /data/ folder or path, or that it can't find the GalCiv/data folde

The only way I've been able to steal any of the AI's research/technologies is by conquering a world or by a vote in UP. I think as you increase your espionage spending for a certain race, you should be able to steal that race's research/technologies more and easilier. Also, as you increase espionage spending on different races, you should be able to steal trade goods from that race, or at least get that certain trade good's bonus stats added to your stats.

I was just playing GalCiv the other day, thinking to myself, when I thought of an idea that might make a good suggestion. See what you think: I was thinking, it might add a little bit more strategy to the game if you had to keep control of Sol, as your home system, in order to keep the game going. Also, in the same respect, if you captured one of the major or minor race's home system, it knocks that race out of the game. Or if having to hold on to the home system in order to stay in

Found another bug. The UP just voted to have all civs return to an Imperial government, and while the government screen seemed to indicate that I automatically went back from a Republic to an Imperial government, a few months later my senate still held an election, I won, and I still got the party bonuses associated with winning an election. ~SDC~

Hi. I'm new to GalCiv and SmartException, so I'm not quite sure what I have to do to record crashes and bugs, but I did get a crash.dll application placed in my Stardock file folder, if there's something I have to do with that. Anyways, the crash/bug occured not very long after I started my second game. I clicked on my survey ship, and then clicked on a yellow planet for my survey ship to auto pilot to. I had just received diplomacy as a technology, and was started to research t

Happened to me too. All the races were wiped out for me, the Altarians, the Torians, and the Carinoids. I attacked the Torians, and the Altarians (who was allied with both me and the Torians) broke our alliance and declared war on me. After a while, I decide to offer peace treaties to them, do so successfully, push the Turn button, and low and behold, they both redeclare war on me again. Go figure. :notsure:
