I am, it's been said by devs before. When you play through it, it becomes pretty obvious that it's larger than huge. It also is the only map to accommodate all seven rival races.

The campaign map doesn't use settings in the same way other maps do. For example, it has a map size that's actually larger than what you can get through New Game maps. Shards are similarly always the same, as the campaign map never actually changes. Doomsday speed is always normal though, I believe.

Making them one-shot enchants is intentional; they went into it on some of the dev streams. The logic, I believe, was that by making them one-shot enchants, they could be made more powerful and unique. Meanwhile, in the past having them be reusable meant that there was this compelling urge to have every enchant slot filled with something, which got tedious.

My main questions right now: 1. Any changes being considered for rival diplomacy? Is the current system where you're able to game the favor gains to ally with two mortal enemies (like both the Frozen Realm and Ice Lords) intended? It feels abusive/exploitative, at least. 2. Any changes being considered for how the SK's threat goes up? It feels odd how you can have the SK pinned inside his citadel with outposts and slaughter both of his lieutenants, but he still doesn&#

Following 1.3, it seems to me that the best strategy to go with is a "bottle the SK in with outposts" strat, meaning that close proximity to him is generally a good thing. If you let him do whatever he wants for very long, he'll rack up doomsday ridiculously quickly, so you have to make sure that the bulk of his armies can't even leave his home base. Of course, then you have to worry about the armies spawned from the lieutenants, but those generally aren't as threatening.<

Destiny's Gift is also in Enchantment, and is so broken and hilariously overpowered that I'm kind of surprised that it squeeked through early access. Regardless, Courage is universal, but I think Enchantment is useful enough just from Tutelage, Tireless March, and Wellspring. If Enchantment suffers from anything, I think it's having a ton of city enchantments that buff units, which you'll either love and abuse or just ignore.
Xii the Archon is completely broken due to how well his stats scale with shards, especially his first skill. And by the time you get him, you would have at least a good # of shards in your possession. I would nerf him on the shard scaling modifiers. Giott the Marksman - totally on the opposite end of Xii in power level. None of his skills scale with shards, devouring for 5

I didn't even know that you could get wolf pelts from Resource Harvesting. Granted, I rarely get it. Tyrant doesn't get it at all, and it's out of the way for Guardian. Secondary resources aren't so useful for those two, so I rarely bother getting them. I've found that wolves are really rare, though. You get one or two in some bandit stacks, but I can't remember the last time I've seen a wolf den itself outside of the campaign, or using Hunting Ground

I feel like Drogon's slow speed is a balancing factor for how strong and tough he is. I never really minded that. In fact, the reason I didn't talk about the starting champions much at all is because I think they're all in a fairly okay spot. Some may be more useful than others, but you could make an argument for using any of them. Rival champion balance is all over the place, though. Xii is overpowered, Giott is fine but boring, Slough and Ifris are good, and Raza, Silind

Another big feedback post, this time on champions. I actually have less to say about a lot of the individual champions (especially the starting ones) but a bit more to say about progression and such overall. -Staff Progression- Staff-using champions have some weird progression going on. Splintered staffs can be really hard to find in the game as-is, which really delays a starting Naphaz or Keplin in terms of getting their first weapon upgrade. In fact, sometim

Thanks for the replies so far. And yeah, the priestess tree could really use something...more. Her tree feels very...empty and void of anything exciting after you grab your hero and the ability to regen shards. The bottom tree is fine I think, though I feel like tying Destiny's Favor to her skill tree was a mistake. Also, Commander exp-per-shard bonuses are indeed crazy OP, though I'll miss them if they get nerfed. It's a way to max out champs on smaller maps.

So, you know when your army's combat rating had flown over a thousand, something has gone horribly right wrong. Horribly wrong. Destiny's Gift grants +1 attack, initiative, and hit point per shard to a chosen champion. The problem is, unlike Divine Wisdom, it's not a buff. So, you can jus

So I hear you guys like big feedback posts. So I decided to give you one or two. After playing this game for over a hundred hours because oh god why, I figured I'd throw some thoughts out there and see what everyone thinks, and maybe give the devs some new perspectives. -Overall- I want to start this off by saying that my favorite sovereign right now is probably the Tyrant, mostly because of a unified theme. Most of the sovereigns are focused on one partic

While I refer to the Guardian's "Shard Guardian" ability, it's likely that the Wizard's "Shard Sense" works in the same manner, I just haven't tested it. When you take the skill, it reveals all of the shards on the map. If you look, this is the result: The shard is actually giving vision, as seen by the fact that I'm able to

As a quick follow-up to this, I've discovered that the Wizard's "Diplomatic" skill is bugged in exactly the same manner. Not surprising, as they do the same thing.

4 Replies 7,459 Views

Absolutely. I assume you're referring to the Tyrant bug specifically? So here is a shot of my diplomacy screen before taking Indoctrinate: I'm already allied with the Ice Lords in this example, and at 4/5 favor with the Swamp Giants and 3/5 with the Keepers of the Flame. Now I take Indoctrinate... <img src="http://i1197.pho

Something good for going the "evil"/Tyrant route would indeed be welcome. It's kind of disarming that the best way to play the Tyrant is to be a saintly good guy, since you're punished for cruelty points. But yeah, more roleplaying options. I still like focusing on giving more stuff to do with rival interactions. And, since this is a game that the champion stack was made for, more champions and such would be awesome.

I've noticed that the Wizard sovereign gets at least one instance of unavoidable threat that others can weasel out of, in particular: Conversation - "I Am Concerned" (triggered by founding a new city) Wizard response: Our people desired a new field to tend... (Resulting in +1 threat. All other options are the same or worse.) Everyone else: The other remnants are encroaching... (Resulting in no threat.) Also, the "The Shards Are Mine" conversation (where the

I'd like to see a rebalance of some of the starting parties, at least. Especially for Naphaz, who I'm pretty sure has the weakest starting group. Poor Zurn is literally just a third of a Bound Trog unit, and dies if someone sneezes on him too hard.

1 Replies 9,749 Views

Just a mess of bug reports after playing this game way too much (One...more...turn...) Currently playing 1.2 opt-in. 1. Tyrant's Indoctrinate ability doesn't work. This one's kinda odd...if you look at the diplomacy screen on the same tern you earn the ability, it seems to show a +2 gain to favor for all the factions you know, but it reverts back down to normal on the next turn. Given that most favor bumps don't actually become visible on that screen until the turn aft
I like the idea of more end game winning conditoins. What would be some that you guys would like to see?
To bring things back to talk about Sorcerer King... Looking at a past dev journal touching on similarities between SK and Star Control 2 had me thinking. One of the things that I loved about SC2 was the dialogue and interactions you had with the various quirky aliens. SK has the beginnings of this, with a

I've also been noticing an odd tendency for allied rivals to just park themselves on top of outposts...which then prevents them from ever getting upgraded. That can be quite frustrating as well.

4 Replies 15,426 Views

So I just got my first campaign win. As hilarious as it was storming the Sorcerer King's castle was with a doom stack of eleven champions, I'm guessing that it's probably not intended that I be able to ally with all seven rivals at once. There are a number of ways to game the diplomacy between them, since they don't actually get pissed off and join the SK unless you actually talk to them while allied with someone they hate. If you manage to get favor from quests you already ha

I don't see what level has to do with anything. Yeah, your original champion is going to have a level advantage, but I don't see why this is a problem for remnant champs specifically when it also affects champs gained from statues and the skill tree. In fact, remnant heroes suffer less, since they join at level 3. And if you want to do some quick and dirty math to better illustrate the point, assuming a level 5 Tandis vs. a fresh level 3 Slough: all heroes get an attack bonus
