Odd drop in FPS before returning to norm. in Technical Sins Forums

During a singleplayer round of sins in systems of war I aquired 9 planets with a force of about 100 ships including 6 capital ships and a Novalith canon. At about and hour and a half into the game my frame rate drops form about 45-50 fps to about 15 during an intense battle. I figured this was normal and went into changing some of the settings to get a decent frame rate out of the game. I got lucky once were all I had to do for the first 3 diplomatic requests was pay the guy. Usually they want me to attack other factions within the first 3 minutes. I barely have scouts out by then!
