LOL. Kinda like Tomato or Tomoto. so even though they are actually ICONS, they launch as an EXE so are considered Gadgets, or if exe's that only run under desktop x, widgets. Got it. and thanks for clearing this up for me gents!

These are icons that point to windows system folders such as My Computer, that are .exe's. You run them once, then they will run with windows every time you start up if you choose. They replace the desktop icons in windows.

Many thanks! To go further, based on my recent refreshing with desktop x, it should be like this, right?: .exe's are gadgets and go to gadgets category? .exe's that only run under desktop x go to widgets? .dxpack's are Objects and go to objects category? sorry, it's been a while since I worked with Desktop X, but am now uploading gadgets made a few years ago when Desktop X was giv

I have a question. I have desktopx made weather gadgets, a date and time gadget, clocks, and animated icons. All made with desktopx. Do I upload these to desktop gadgets, desktop x widgets, desktop x objects?

It's been a long time since I posted here, I've been out of the desktopx loop until recently when I was able to return to it. I originally began working on a Steampunk theme, with animated icons, wallpaper, date and calendar app, and a weather widget. This theme is currently still in process and not available for download as of yet, and at this time ONLY used on my own private workstation. Once I've completed the project and received permissions responses it will be made a

and here I believed the universe had suddenly turned against me. I've had a few issues with my PC as of late, BSOD's, Mysterious Reboots, erroneous error messages such as "Windows was shutdown to prevent damage to your computer: the bios in your computer does not support ACPI" HUH? (so why does it not support it today, when it supported it yesterday?) and "warning, disk drive errors detected" with no clue as to which of the 8 connected drives (yes, I'm a complete geek, and hav

Just off the top of my head, is UAC enabled? (User account control) If it is, it can inhibit many functions. I might be off the mark, but it's where I'd start looking. If it's turned on, turn it off, reboot and then see what happens. -Doc

yeah, I remembered reading a post a few weeks ago where someone said that their post here suddenly appeared on joeuser, so I checked, and sure enough, there it is over at the stardock forums. (as Doc hums ....if I only had a brain.) Please ignore my confusion! (My father has always said I had a brain cloud - Tom Hanks - Joe Versus the Volcano) Thanks.

Right ON! You Rock! I'm going to try this right now and get back to you. UPDATE: it appears to work perfectly! Nice fix and thanks! (now how long before vbscript codes and numbers float freely in my head so I can figure out this kind of stuff? LOL) Now if I may add 1 more question: It's been requested that I add a ticking sound to the clock. I've located a number of different great loopable samples, and applied each of them, however, as soon as another s

Hello, Introduction: Over the last few months I've quietly been familiarizing myself with DesktopX until I felt I'd reached a point where I at least had some decent understanding, Being an internet systems engineer and network engineer I tend to have a knack for reverse engineering things to gain understanding. Now I think I'm up to snuff enough to join you folks in your discussions and not frustrate you, or seem like an idiot. I'd like
