"I find it curious, Dan, that you find holding racist thoughts privately and brutally murdering and torturing animals to be morally equivalent." You misunderstand, I was referring to Whip's lack of characterizing of this man, when at first glace, she characterized Vick, as black. The fact that Dog is no more or less a thug, than Vick, yet he is White, not black, is what stood out to me. "Dog's comments were meant to be part of a private conversation. They weren't said at a hec

Hey, Dr perhaps you haven't read the previous 178 posts. There is no irony, the thread is about the outrage about government getting involved in the wrong way by providing birth control to children. There are some, though few in here, namely Whip who think it's a good idea for children, who are unable to comprehend the consequences of life altering decisions as well as risks that come with sex, to be forced or at least given access to birth control so that they don't accidentally get p

I don't think anybody is defending Dog's comments as right. But sure he's got the right to say them. What about the right to have the conversations you have with your children, confidential. I find it ironic that is was a family member who sold him out, and ironic that he was sold out in exactly the same way in which he was trying to prevent based on the substance of the conversation. I don't expect this guy to win a Nobel peace prize but I don't think he's a total dumb ass either. <br/

Private conversations shouldn't cost you your career. They should be off limits to the public. What I find is scary is that this wasn't some public display, this was an angry man battling with his son over a disagreement. I guess the fact that Dog was using racial slurs wasn't even central to the conversation. He did lose his temper but he didn't go off on a racist rant in public and offend people knowingly and willingly. I think what his son did to him, if true is really mor

I guess November is lets be a racist month and release it to the public. You would think that celebrities and people who have or do have the cameras in their face all the time, you know from being celebrities that they would know the words not to say ever. Like the N word, in this instance, in a personal conversation with Dog's son where he says he doesn't want his son's girlfriend around because his family and he use the N word, where is just slips out. Right. The link at th

"But I can't abide people trying to force their ideals on others." Then I guess you won't be worried about your children complying with the laws of majority setup by, "the people", for "the people", of "the people". It is all about people, about the greater good and about the one who are impacted directly. Children should not be encouraged or enabled by the government to be having sex. Especially when, if they do, they are subject to underage sex laws, and the reality of life u

Boo hoo Whip, I'm pretty sure, I didn't start personal attacks against you but defended my points against yours. I came to this forum not from an interest in news or banter but to find ways of improving Galciv 2 when it sucked royally pre patches. Now when you bring a faulted argument and distorted logic to a problem here and elsewhere, as in the past I've called you on it, when confronted with the reality of your statements it's me who has a "bug up my ass", or is the "racist" or is a

The cheapest copy of XP at newegg is an OEM XP Home or maybe Pro anyway it is just a shade under $100. Which is a good deal compared to Vista. I wonder if you get Word and Excel with Pro that would be kickass. Anyway, So stuff like Doom3 and Simcity4 and Crysis, Supreme Commander isn't going to work with Ubuntu? I don't have a wireless card nor do I think it's be a good idea for my box to go wireless though it does have built in wireless capability. I really feel adventurous t

"This makes no sense. It takes a male and a female to create a child, does it not?" You said it not me, but when I was in Middle school-High school 1994-2000 yes it took a male and a female having sexual intercourse to create a child. It still does as far as I know Whip. Actually I can't, I don't have a valid copy of XP. I have a DELL WIN XP SP 1 OEM disc which I used to install XP on for 30 days until activation on this rig initially hence how I was able to determine validly that Vista is slower and less compatible. I appreciate the advice on reformating and such. The guys at Microstupid told me that I won't be able to use the OEM disk to install XP. I would prefer to do this all legally, and would only consider not paying for my shit, if there is no

"Trouble is nowadays, what is wrong to some folks isn't wrong to others...moral relativism is alive and well and as has been shown is applied even when the health and welfare of children is concerned." I'm not a religious nut. I'm ok with 18 year old screwing their brains out, and getting contraceptives from the government. The difference is, they are not minors and it is not an illegality. Minors can and will be prosecuted for rape crimes even if the sex they have is consensu

"got yourself a Hell of a box there, dan. shame that vista makes it run so bad, that baby should be flying" Thanks I build it myself It in an Antec900 case btw, with 6 total fans, a 200mm one on the top, and 3 80mms on the case, blue LED's wooo weeee, a nice 90 mm blue led fan on the PWR supply and the stock Core 2 Quad fan from intel. I didn't ignore your point. It just isn't relevant or correct. There are always mix ups and misinterpretations by parents who are deluged with lots of things to sign at work and for kids. Certainly you don't want there to even be the possibility of a mix up here. The point maybe be silly but recall just how many bureaucratic mix ups there are in modern education. Not signing permission slips does not guarantee that BC won't be disseminated by some other means, "with the best interests

No my biggest problem is Vista is incompatible with a lot of my programs. Read my fucking posts before you do a one sentence diagnosis thanks. Zantarr, you don't need to remind me that the 8600 GT is underpoweredand I won't disagree. The 8600 GT which I paid for about 3 months ago now was about $100. It still retails for $100. That was the plan all along. I wanted to go conservative with a graphics card, so I could get a quad core, 2 gigs of ram, a nice 700 watt pwr supply, and a 500 gi

I'm sorry to hear about your children Whip. Honestly why do you think it's productive to bring forth one line zingers, from the skeleton closet of your personal life? How many kids are going to take over the counter, and prescription meds from the primary care doctors that interact negatively with whatever form of birth control the girl is secretl

That's be cause XP got better with time, I have no doubt that Vista will, but shouldn't Microsoft be selling an OS, like XP that was better/faster than previous incarnations. This OS market isn't the same either as when XP came along, Ubuntu and OSX are going to be much more competitive with Vista, in my estimation because of the lack of compatibility and performance, that is available. Another thing Microsoft has seen to do is minimize the impact of SP's with Vista, more upda

The social issues of underage contraception availability and utilization of human intervened birth control in the wild. I'm still not seeing the connection or application. The DNR regulates fishing too, for population control. Big deal, Underage conception control has nothing to do with that and neighter does the elephant population of south africa and the school district in maine. "I think what's really pissing you off is that you know there are many parents out there who realistically understand that despite their best efforts to the contrary, most (95%) of their offspring are going to have sex before achieving legal adulthood." I guess I was in the minority on that one then. I don't think the government should be in the business of providing children, i.e. 11 and 12 year olds birth control methods which are not 100% effective, even if parents give consent. Duh!

The whole goal with Vista was to get 3rd party devs on board with 64 bit. Well with about a dozen current versions of Windows, Microsoft is just being stupid.
