Well, I have the same problem. However, I noticed that the listed price for the game on Stardock's site is about 20% higher than buying it on Steam, so it is a bit pointless, even if I could enter it.
Hourrah, that solved my problem, at least for the time being. I had these hollow circles as planets and my ships were so matte-black that they blended in perfectly with the background. This on an english W2k SP4, but with swedish setting. Setting it to US-English worked well. Strange bug, though, that the decimal comma/point should trigger this.
Now don't be too hard on the guy - the game does crasch occasionally, although it's on my ol' faithful computer from 2002. I did have to upgrade my video drivers to the semi-latest version (the latest doesn't work) for my now rather dated, but usable, and above all, silent RADEON 8500. Still, I agree that a post like that isn't very constructive, but
