Installed a skin that makes the backgrounds of a lot of elements dark with black text on top. I've figured out most of it, but two have me stumped. How do I change the color of: The part of dialogue boxes as shown in the image. The highlight color when selecting items in Explorer. https://i.postimg.cc/X7M2dh0W/whatsit.png https://i

Yeah, that fix didn't help me Shirley, at least not with the original problem I posted about, which is icons not being skinned properly with IP when I'm using Fences. I haven't seen any blank icons so far today though. Is there a way to disable Fences without having to completely uninstall it? EDIT: NM I found the option in the Fences configuration. Not sure why I didn't see it before. So far, it seems like I can disable Fences,

That also happens to me. Or I double click to make the icons disappear and they don't disapper. Yet, when I run the mouse over an individual icon, it will disappear. When I double click to make the desktop reappear, it either won't reappear and I can reveal individual icons by running the mouse over it, or the desktop will reappear with some blank squares where the icons should be.

I have both the latest version of Fences and IconPackager. When I apply a new icon theme, all my icons will be skinned for a second and then folders (primarily live folders) will slowly revert to the default Windows icon. This happens even if the IP theme provides icons for live folders. I tried multiple themes and this kept happening. Puzzled, I uninstalled Fences (couldn't figure out how to just disable it). All of a sudden all the icons were being properly ski

Correct me if I'm wrong, a system file check is used to find missing or corrupt system files like dll's, etc. If I just installed a brand new hard drive and did a fresh install of Windows, what is the likelihood of having corrupted system files within the 30 minutes between starting Windows for the first time and installing Window Blinds? Yrag's response, I'm fairly certain, was based on the assumption that I have an old installation in which system files are likely to be corrupted,

[quote]I can only assume from that answer (and the others) that you don't want help or you're simply oblivious to when help is being offered...so be it....I wish you good luck.[/quote] What does that mean? I'm not allowed to provide additional information that I think might clarify the situation? Of course I don't want help. That's why I'm here for the past two weeks providing updates and new information. That's why I opened a ticket and am constantly back on these forums looking fo

I installed a new hard drive 3 days ago, so this latest WB installation is on a clean, brand new hard drive. Norton came pre-installed with my Windows Vista recovery disks. I didn't install anything except Firefox, Skype and Trillian (which I need for work). And WB is still borked.

Ok, so I installed WB with my newly reset activations. I didn't install AVG. (I am using the 60 day trial of Norton). Now instead of goofing up like before, WB simply isn't skinning at all. My windows revert to a basic Windows 95 look. ([link="http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i184/pumkin54/new-borked.jpg"]Screenshot[/link]) [HR] Here is my new system information: Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of 5.2 Your Windows Graphics Experience score is 5.

I'm not making light of it. I'm expressing my lack of enthusiasm for the rote response. And I didn't write anywhere in my post that I wouldn't update, so I'm not sure why you're assuming that. Of course I update. I always do. And in six months, updating has helped nothing. He could have told me to tie my shoes and it would be as helpful. I waited almost two weeks for that response? To do something obvious that I would've done anyway? Sorry, but it feels more like a dismissal to me, rath

Here's the amazingly helpful response I finally got from Stardock support: "Hello, The latest version of WindowBlidns is 6.2. I would suggest removing the version you have with the following app: http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/odnt_zapper.exe and then downloading and installing the latest version through Impulse. Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions." Wow. Just...wow.

I was having the same problem. I made a post: [link="https://forums.stardock.com/318764"]https://forums.stardock.com/318764[/link] and opened a ticket with Stardock support. After about 2 weeks, the response I finally got from Stardock support was: "The latest version of WindowBlidns is 6.2. I'm having the same problem. If that's really the cause of the problem, that's unfortunate. My virus scanner is more important than a skinning program :( I'll try it later on today and let you know if that solves the problem, though. Thanks!

I only installed Impulse last week and I've been having this problem for like 6 months. I've tried installing WB using a manual download, from Stardock Central, and Impulse. It doesn't make any difference that I noticed.

I'm still waiting for a response from the WB people. I sent them my dxdiag and bigger screenshots so they can really see what's going on. I'll keep you updated. But I also have reformatted my hard drive and re-installed Vista. That's not the problem. I've tried it with old graphic drivers and new drivers. It doesn't matter if it's one of the only programs installed or if I have 30 programs installed. This is a problem I've been dealing with ever since I switched to Vista, I think.

I did update. And had the same problem. And so I uninstalled it. So I can't provide an updated system info. I suppose I could re-install, grab the system info, then uninstall again, and do the requisite reboot... That seems silly to me, since the problem is occuring on both builds. The information I originally provided is just as pertinent?

38 Replies 17,711 Views

The system info is in the original post. I've uninstalled WB (again), so I can't provided an updated system info but nothing much has changed. I didn't realize I could open trouble tickets. I'll do that next!

Ok, that didn't work. I waited 24 hours to test it out and 4 reboots and several borked interfaces later, I've had to uninstall WB again. I'm still having the same problem. Does anybody else have other suggestions? :( Edit: That being said, are there any other programs that allow you to skin Vista? Maybe I should just try one of those. I've been struggling with this WB bug for about 6 months now and am really just exasperated.

I don't have nView running. I never really understood what it was for, so I never used it. I double checked startup programs, and running processes and services just in case. No nView. I'm installing Impulse now. I was still using Stardock Central. (I had the WB problem before I installed SC, which I only used for some DLL error when using IconPackager). I'll let you know if that helps. Thanks!

I can install WB fine and 25% of the time, it's fine. If I have to reboot my computer for any reason, there's a very high chance that WB will be messed up when it reloads. Here are the problems: 1. Half the windows will have no titlebar or buttons. These windows cannot be moved around or anything since there's no titlebar to grab onto. (Screenshot: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i184/pumki

I'm searching for the same thing. Has anybody submitted Vista compatible icon packages that skin the live folders ? It's kind of frustrating when you're trying to set a theme for your desktop and the live folders are still the same old yellow default Vista folders. It breaks the ambiance! Thanks in advance!

I posted yesterday and they took my post off. I was asking how I can buy Object Desktop without a credit card. Is it possible? I can't call the 800 number cuz I'm in France. I don't see why my message disappeared. This is an authentic question and not a taboo subject....
