Ya know, you may be right .. I'll have to try playing Good again and check I quit playing Good when I found out about the instant Terraforming benefit of being Neutral

In v1.1, there were special armor types for defense againsMissle, Beam, and Mass Driver weapon types. Did those just get nixed for some reason or is it a bug that they're not showing up?

Finally got my Xeno Ethics done and chose Neutral, expecting to see the Neutral bonus armor types in the tech tree and they weren't there! I've done it a few times just to be sure and they never show up for me - what happened to them?

This was suggested to me a while back and I found it very helpful - Research Xeno Ethics as early as possible and go Neutral - you get the planetary improvements and terraforming for free, and your highest population colonies become maintenance free

The only time I pick up a gaming magazine is if I happen to be travelling - I might get one at the magazine stand to read on the plane. Other than that ( and that is RARE), if its not on GameSpot, I don't know about it. I found GalCiv2 previews on GameSpot and waited .. and waited .. and when it came out I bought the only copy my local EB had. All that to say: don't waste money on print advertising anymore.

When it comes to Starbases ... well, frankly .... I cheat. It never made sense to me that they couldn't move (except for the mining ones of course, since the resources are fixed at that location), so I just move them myself using the Teleport cheat (CNTRL+T). Now, I limit myself to 1 square every few turns but at least its something.

Up until 1.1, my GalCiv2 game was stable and played well. Since updating to 1.1, I can play for an hour or two and then one of two things occur: 1) Game crashes during QuickSave 2) My screen starts flashing in weird ways - text gets jumbly, etc. In either case, I hear the classic windows "critical stop" sound and then the only way to get my machine back is to hard-reset it. Which of course means I lose any progress I've made since the prior successful QuickSave. <

#1 doesnt mean anything. Those ships can go straight through your area of sight in one turn, they're extremely fast. They probably are getting smashed without you realising. Plus, they could have tried an assault and lost Actually, if they were fighting, you'd see it during the AI's "turn" beca

oh, add #10 to that list .... 10) Why isn't the UFP active during the Dread Lords campaign? I mean, some of the resolutions involved would be handy to talk about while you're in that ware ... like arming transports or sharing starbase bonuses between allies.

Well, now that I've played several games as differerent races and using different strategies, I've got some things to say. So in no particular order, here we go ... 1) In the Dread Lords campaign, I'll get panicky pleas for help from the other races like "The ward agains the Dread Lords is going badly, is there anything you can do?". Problem is, I know that they haven't been touched at all by the Dread Lords because my territory is between

I dunno, rally points are only sorta useful honestly ... The real functionality I would "like" to see (no pressure ) is a "select all (ship type)", and a"launch all (ship type)". The "launch all" would put them out of orbit of course, then the "select all" would then allow me to right click a given destination. This is particularly true of constructors that might have many sources but a single

Playing the Drengin last nite, just to see how the evil half lives ... I'm doin the warlord thing, taking on whatever happens to be encroaching in my territory and it just so happens the Andians are first on my hit list - they were fairly close to my home world. So I stock up on a few standard Star Furies and send them over while my Troopship gets built. The Star Furies arrive first so I park them for a turn or two while the troop

adding my 0.000000002bc ... When on the planet management screen, deciding what to build next on my planet, it would be helpful if I could see the minimap or something that would give me a reference as to where in the galaxy this particular planet is located. Particularly when it comes to building ships, you might make a different decision on factories and military spending if that particular planet is on or near the frontier, as opposed to

Govenor page? Man, there's so much I'm still learning/absorbing about this game .... I've even read the manual .. TWICE! Of course there are still things I can't find, like how to get my survey ships to do their thing automatically. I've seen it referred to but I still can't find where in the interface to tell it to do that. Thanx for that F6 hint tho .. I'll check that out <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" bor

I dunno that its totally useless. By the time you get it most of the anomalies are gone, so its useless for that I grant you. But for finding useable planets quickly it still has some value if you got it early enough and didn't already flood the universe with scout ships.

Playing a Gigantic galaxy, when I upgrade a custom ship, suddenly all my starports that weren't producing anything start producing the upgraded ship. I can manually go to the planets and turn them off again but if the list of planets is long, its amazingly annoying. All I was trying to do was upgrade the exisiting ships already in-service, not produce 100 more of them
