I had the same issue. I deleted the screens folder, and when I attempted to load it up again it was just a black screen. So I verified the game's integrity through steam, and it downloaded the missing files. After that the game loaded correctly, but the screen still has the very difficult to read text.

Checking out the newest build, I saved the game. After loading it back up, my starting city didn't seem to be calculating in my enchantment or workshop improvement to materials, and was building everything really slow. Didn't see a support faq in this forum, so not sure what else you need.
