A better suggestion might be to limit a race's capability of building starbases in YOUR territory. Personally, this annoys me to no end when my neighbor starts dropping influence starbases around my homeworld, and I don't want to blow them up because we're holding onto a tenuous peace while I out-tech him... I'm not sure what the rationale of allowing races to do this particular action is. I would think that it would be allowed in only 2 ins

Actually, AGP Aperture can make or break your system, if you don't have it tuned correctly: Link My recommendation would be to set your AAS to 128MB, and throw on the latest Omega drivers. And maybe throw in another 512MB of memory.

Found the button. It's VERY faint, no wonder I had been overlooking it. Thanks for the help! -M

I've been playing with the Lucky characteristic, and I've been regularly finding 3-6 Rangers in each game I've played, on Normal difficulty. On a side note, how are you guys getting your Metaverse characteristics to show in your posts? -M

Achillus, remember that you are referring to things that have happened on a world scale. It's easy to pick out a single person who has been influential during a particular time, in a particular place in the world. However, you need to take one more step back. Sure, George Washington helped shape the future of the U.S., and ultimately this planet. However, how much influence did he have on the planet circling Proxima Centauri? As I mentioned, even the

Personally, I have never liked the hero concept in large-scale strategy games. They work great in tactical-level games, but in grand strategy, everything is abstracted to such a great level. Putting hero units into the game throws a lot of micro-management onto a single unit that really shouldn't even be noticed at the grand scale. The experience system puts plenty of this flavor into the game; if you want a hero, build a great ship, name it, and sheph

There are also some events that turn uncolonizable planets into colonizable ones later. (I had one that made every planet within two sectors of a particular planet a class 15! Needless to say, I started buying colony ships with every planet I had.) -M

Version 1.0x 1) When the "No more than 5 modules can be added to a starbase" law is passed, it is still possible to add more than the 5 module limit if multiple constructors are stacked up and then moved as a stack to upgrade the starbase. 2) Battle Stations IV is incorrectly labeled and referred to as Battle Stations III. (I.e., you will see two Battle Station III upgrades available if you have researched that far along, and have

Not to sound too snarky, but you WERE aware that this is a single-player game only, right? And if you think you've wasted your money, I'd suggest trying a game with opponents set to "Intelligent," so you can watch the AI hand your *ss to you on a platter. Not everything needs to be a network game, you know. Especially when a game like this takes days to play through a single scenario. -M

Wow. Messed that up. And no edit in sight. Well, it's called the Lucky Ranger: 72 hp 25 beam attack 17 beam defense All the human ships are lasers so far. Worst I've seen is a 2 attack no defense frigate. This baby might tip the balance a bit... LOVE those Lucky Rangers! The last game I played (my 2nd overall,)

If you pre-ordered the game from TG or Stardock, put your serial number in the first space, NOT the Collector's Edition space in the Downloads section. I was confused to begin with as well. All serial numbers from the pre-order are being treated as Collector's Edition serials. Just enter the serial in the first slot and downlaod your goodies. -

Q: If I bought the game for download only, can I still get the box/CD later? A: Yes. Just requires shipping and handling. What exactly is the process to do this? I pre-ordered the download from Stardock before I had full access to the forums. I'd like to make sure I get a collector's edition box before they're gone.
