I have now performed the "procedure" that Corky_O suggested for a complete de-install/re-install process. Unfortunately this was to no avail. Icon X still refuses to start. It starts briefly and the unloads, just like before. This time I haven't even installed Desktop X so that app could not be the culprit. I am starting to believe that it is something to do with any of the antivirus/spyware control programs I have. Norton Internet security 2005 for example or Spysweeper etc. Anyone h

Gregory2001, please tell me where the search function is in this forum!!
Thanks Corky_O and Bichur for your comments and for caring at all, Windowblinds trayicon and the splashscreen issue might be moot then judging from the above. For the Icon X issue I will try the above solutions, cleaning cache etc., and worst case do the reinstall. Regards, /Per
It's the Icon X not loading issue maily, but I also do not see Windowblinds in the icontray and at startup the Object Desktop splash screen does not show as it used to. That's why I believe there is something major wrong. /Per
I have been getting strange problems with my Object Desktop entities like Windowblinds and Icon X lately and I have tried to look for solutions in the Forums here. Since there is no Search function in the Forums is virtually impossible to find any topics to match my problems let alone answers (please Stardock that has to be easy to implement!!!). Any way I am now getting tired of the malfunctions and I would like to completely uninstall Object Desktop and maybe also Stardock Central
Not using any widgets. /P
I just uninstalled and re-installed IconX. No change. The problem persists. Iprepair I did what this link suggest Link /Per
Unfortunately that did not help. Same as before, when starting manually it loads for a short time and the unloads. I getting annoyed now... I haven't had any problems with SDC or any of it's applications until a few months ago when I had the "iprepair.dll" issue and now this. Totally inexplicable issues that annoys the h-ll out of me. How can an application just start and the end for seemingly no reason. I am at a loss... /Per
I have smartstart up enabled (I have know idea what it does thought) and I have SDC. I had "run at startup" checked in IconX, yes. Now I cannot get to it because it does not load. I have version 1.10.007 (Aug 5). Funny thing though. I just recently renewed my OD subscription fo another year and since then I haven't been notified of even one update to any of the applications in OD. Before there seemed to be a regular update or beta
No I don't, just ObjectDockPlus and Windowblinds.
Hi, For some reason my IconX has decided not to load. It used to load at startup but now i does not and when I start it manually I it loads for 1 second and then it unloads. The problem is that I cannot figure out what has changed on my machine since the problem started yesterday. Anyone seen this? I have seen postings in the forums about IconPackager doing the same thing but not IconX. /Per
Hi, When shutting down laptop I get the "program does not end" and it is DirectSkin Window. When XP tries to end it, it does not succeed and I have to close it down manually. This happens every time I shut down the laptop. Extremely annoying. Any ideas anyone? /Per
Thanks werewolf. I found an answer that was posted after I asked my question in another very recent thread. The problem is that it took me a day of systematic investigations to figure out that Object Desktop and was the culprit. When I understood that it was time to go to the forums here. It's not really "intuitive that" it was a dll-file in IconPackager that was the problem. Now I am happy again!! /Per
Nakor, you are an angel. That takes care of the problem. All apps now work. Thanks for quick response. Question though; why did this happen at this update and never before and will the problem return again? /Per
I have got problems with the following applications after having done the latest updates (Jul 28,) on Desktop Central of the major apps as Desktop X, WindowBlinds, IkonX etc: iMatch; photo manager, not skinnable Dantz Retrospect 6.5; back-up utility, not skinnable Pinnacle Studio 9; not skinnable I have tried to exclude them from being skinned in WindowBlinds, but no luck. Hi, When shutting down PC I always get the "Cannot end program DirectSkinWindow". Then the PC tries to shut it down but do not succeed until I manually end the program. Happens every time. Got WinXP Pro SP2 as OS. Any ideas? Regards, /Per
