Initial Thoughts
I have maybe 2 hours of game time to this point 30 minutes learning an hour and half playing.
I've never played this game before as spells and magic never really sparked my interest. After playing several turns into the game on normal the game play seems straight forward. I feel it's fairly easy to pick up with little to no experience with this game in the past. The building structure (expansion with new settlements or outposts) are a little confusing but, may be better explained if I go through the tutorials (help).
Issues
The main problem I have with any turn bases strategy game with tactical battles remains in this game. Once I've figured out how to use the tactical battle, the player seems to have a huge advantage to use the tactical battles versus the automatic battle option. Especially when I had the spell or potion (sorry don't know the name) where any of my units can cast this spell and heal all of my other units to full health. This is especially powerful at the beginning to quickly level up my units well beyond what most others are in the game at the normal setting.
Normal appears easy at least early on in the game. Like I said above I have had no experience in this game therefore everything is brand new. I have one group of units at twice the level of any enemy groups.
Not obvious what the Sorcerer King can do for you. Maybe add something in the initial text boxes that pops up telling the player what the Sorcerer King does. Again I'm new so I may have missed it and overlooked it.
Things I would Add
I have not found a turn counter anywhere? Now maybe Galactic Civilizations III ruined me, however, I believe it would be nice for a turn counter in the game to gauge where you are in the the game.
Possible Bugs
One of my turns got stuck stating my archer had moves left, however, that group had no moves left, I was able to save and load the game and it continued normally. Didn't submit bug report as I didn't have time to at that moment, will in the future.
I look forward to hearing on any suggestions people have as I continue to dig into this game.
