[beta 5] Feedback

[beta 5] Feedback

First, let me say, I like the polished look of beta 5 much better.  It's definitely getting there.  Not as many roaming monsters either so easier to explore.

Second, I've run across some issues.

1) Quests - I've gotten the same ole quests from beta 4.  I've gotten ONE quest that's slightly different.  This is just the town/inn quests.  I do see great improvement in the faction quests.

2) Towns - There are none.  Why are there none?  I don't know.  I've played 15 random games and expanded quite a bit without EVER finding a SINGLE place to settle a new town.  And now that the improvement spell is gone, I haven't been able to create a single town in any of my games.  WHAT'S UP WITH THIS?

3) Enchanting - FAIL - So, enchanting is at the end of a skill line for most.  That's actually REALLY lame.  I have yet to get to the end of the skill line since I give up after realizing that I can't actually create any towns anywhere.

4) Random Map - FAIL - the random map isn't very random.  The placement of the starter city seems REALLY NOT RANDOM.... it's either on a peninsula or in the mountains - why?

I'll post more in this thread as I find more.  Still, definitely more polished.

Ok... part of the problem is that it seems when a pioneer creates an outpost - assuming the outposts still take up 1 logistic point - it doesn't refund the pioneer's logistic point.  So in essence, the outpost is costing 2.

Another BIG problem... sporadically... the production from the town type disappears.  For instance, the 1st round the tooltip and the little production count by the city says 13... tooltip says 3 from resource and 10 from village... for a total of 13.  And, the town shows 13 hammers and a Settler will take 7 turns.

I saved the game... then exited (the town territory highlight disappeared)... and then reloaded it.  now... the tooltip says the same thing, but only THREE hammers are shown and a settler will now take 30 turns.

That's a BIG bug.  Especially in the beginning.  And yes, I waited... and it doesn't reset... it stays like that and it takes 30 turns to crank out the first settler.

More on this - it happens to mulitple cities.  Currently... my second city has 1 (ONE!) production.  It's RIDICULOUS!  This bug is SOOOO easy to replicate.  How did this make it out of QA?

Ok... it looks like loading a game is what screws it up.  Please address this.

It looks like logistics is screwed up by loading/saving as well.

And often, when an enemy casts drain life... it freezes combat for a while.

Not sure what the spell Warrior's Might is SUPPOSED to do... Description says Target unit gets +1 attack per attack for the duration of battle... does that mean it effectively doubles attack... or what?

OMG... Beta 5 is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Buggy.... between the logistics bug and the production bug... this game is nearly unplayable once you encounter them.

How about a quick fix?!

Edit - This game is F'ED UP!  Unplayable.  Loaded my game again and ALL logistics just disappeared.  Seriously guys... HOW DID YOU MISS THIS?!

I have to agree, i experience these issues as well, especially the Logistics one. Every reload of a saved game results in my Logistics dropping to -10 or lower. Reloading multiple times sometimes fixes that but not always and its certainly not fun.

Another thing i noticed: The quest log doesn't show the "Go to Location"-Button for most quests. Currently, I just cannot seem find the two tiles on the map that i have to go to in order to complete the quests.

Agreed on the enchanting being too far back.

My suggestion: make all enchants cost a bit of mana and give it earlier.  Maybe lock the strongest enchants (like +mana) to a skill that's undervalued.

Logistics does need to make more sense as well.   I do like that high-level towns provide it now.

There is also an issue with running out of things to build in a town too early.

I think this bug is old as.. well, old one.
But changing game speed during battles also changes mouse sensevity.
That's odd.

I think for one thing, logistics needs to spell out everything that is using logistics. I don't find the tooltip to be especially helpful presently.
