anyone got the current beta working on vista?

Hi there,

Long time galciv 1/2 player here.  I just noticed the steam sale and was tempted to pick up the beta... now I know the official requirement is for 64-bit windows 7 or later, but I'm stuck on 64-bit Vista for the time being and remember that there was some talk last year that the game might work on vista (although obviously unsupported).  So my question is, predictably, is anyone running the current beta ok under vista?

thanks!

What version of direct x do you have. Is your operating system 64 bit. Do you have 4 gigs of memory or more.

DirectX 11, Vista home premium service pack 2 (64-bit), 6 GB ram.

Cheers.

Does doing the windows 10 total transformation (the one there is no return from) help.

I looked upvthe other requirements that are hardly worth mentioning. 512 megabytes video ram. 5 or 500 or better graphics card or hd 4000 onboard graphics this is loadable depending on the chip. If you have the graphics it should work at leadt eith the game. I would test it before i buy though. Play.ademo.

Anyway, as my original post stated, I'm just reaching out to see if anyone has the current beta working ok under Vista?

cheers.

Thanks for the link BuckGodot.  With that info and in the absense of anyone saying they've got it working ok I guess the ol' gaming budget will be going on Sid's new game instead.

Brad just said it was possible while yarlen said it wasn't.  Window's seven can run on the same machine as vista,  so for less than $100 you could get seven. At this point waiting for the game to come out wouldn't mean much,  but right now the game is on sale on steam for $25.

Brad's post is almost a year old (check the thread creation date), and before the minimum specs were released.
