Quick question, I have a lot of Stardock games that I obtained via impulse which is now owned by Gamestop. But i see rebellion is only availalble on Steam. Is that the case?

Yes, but Rebellion is a stand alone expansion. It doesn't matter where you have the other games, though having to use steam is unfortunate.
Steam Required is a no sell here. I don't like renting games.
Steam isn't perfect but imho it's quite a bit better than alot of other game distribution software.
EDIT: I just wish I could register my trinity with steam instead.
You always rent games, Steam just makes it more obvious.
