IN NEED OF A MINESWEEPER

IN NEED OF A MINESWEEPER

Ive noticed that atleast for me the only way to really clear mines from a enemy after pushing them out of the gravity well. Is to do something very dangerous for my Fleet. Put 3-4 Kols online and slowly drive them through the Minefield left over by the enemy. The ships always last, although take a good bit of damage, which causes the hoshi's to come running. But what i propose is the creation of another ship. A cruiser class vessel that has the capability of causing the mines to go off on their own from a safe distance.

I cant stop other ships from running straight through them. Unless i micro every ship coming through and even then i cant prevent them from accidently jumping directly in the minefield.........this is for the most part the tradeships im talking about. To me a Minesweeper would make total sense. It also be a great addition to a fleet. People would jump the Minesweepers in just after the scouts and just before the fleet as a whole,  the minesweepers would have a heavy hull and shields but would come up short on offensive weapons. Maybe only adding a few laser ports to them so they have some way of defending themselves.  But their over all goal wouldnt be to fight but to clear a safe passage for the incoming fleet.

Evidently you missed this in my post, Allegiance. Here's the list of instructions again:

1. Build a scout.

2. Build a flak frigate.

4. Put the scout and flak frigate in a fleet.

4. Jump to a minefield

5. Sit back and watch.

I realize this is an intensely demanding set of instructions, and recognize that even a person of your commendable intellect and skill may have problems executing them, but nevertheless implore to attempt them on your own.

yeah, the only thing about the scout/flak combo is sometimes the targetting messes up and they go through the minefield to get to what they want to target. OR the reform fleet action kics in and messes them all up. ): Shitty ai.

well, making a scout the fleet leader can help alleviate that.

I personally like the Scout+Flak=Dead Mines equation. However, for a new faction/race mod, having a dedicated minesweeper (or, dare I say it, Minesweeper SQUADS) might add a different flavor. The only thing would be that their scouts can't detect mines.

will the great, your a pompus idiot, if you paid any attention to any of my posts. You wouldnt even have to show how retarded you are in that last post. I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT THE SCOUT/FLAK TRICK now please be quiet while everyone else talks.

And the point of the ships going right through the minefield even when its been revealed is just another point why there needs to be something devoted to taking out the mines.

AGAIN ill explain this one more time. so that everyone here thats too slow to pick up on it can catch up.

I asked for a MINESWEEPER because I DIDNT KNOW AT FIRST that scout/flak do the job. So my arguement now is that IF THE DEVS are going to CREATE a DEVOTED unit for antistructure. ITS NOT TOO HARD for the Devs to create a DEVOTED unit for the mines. SINCE the Scout/Flak is not really a dedicated counter, they just have the ABILITY to destroy mines pretty good. Just like alot of other units are pretty useful against other units they werent intended to counter. Hopefully now people will stop commenting on a already dead discussion.

Did you know that you can use scouts and flak frigates? There's no need for a dedicated minesweeper ship.

actually I disagree, having a dedicated minesweeper would be AWESOME!

just have it affect only mines for a damage of 70 for every 7 seconds for a DoT of 10, supply cost at 3, credits 250, metal 40, crystal 8, oh and heavy armor of 4 with hitpoints at 500 and shields at 250 at least for the TEC

I know what you mean, something happened in the early 90's; people all across the world got brainwashed by aliens and developed superiority complexes as well as a severe aversion to reading and morals. Although now that the aliens king, Micheal Jackson, is dead, such symptoms of brain damage should start to subside. Your greatest fear now should be that the Catholics have no competition for all the little boys. Have no fear Allegiance, whilste you may be odd in wishing for a minesweeper, you will never know the horrors of a gaping asshole like our poor friend Will. Be kind to the lad, he never asked for such things to happen to him.
