[MOD] Sins Plus (by Uzii) v1.3a Final

[MOD] Sins Plus (by Uzii) v1.3a Final

A mod that adds, not alters.

Some of you may have noticed I haven't been around as much as usual, and it is with some regret that I won't be continuing this mod as a stand alone any more. I have many reasons, but it is mainly my short attention span which has brought this on. I have done my best to produce a top quality mod, and to help out as many people as humanly possible. I was here at the very dawn of modding this game, and I would like to think my input has helped progress slightly. I will check the forums occasionally and offer my help where I can. If you have a specific modding problem, give me a PM and I'll try and help you the best I can.

I will be working with DANMAN, who is producing a 'Super Mod' which includes Sins Plus, Bailknights Graphics, Sins Enhanced, and his own team's work. I will continue to give support for Sins Plus, and I will help out others where I can, but no further work will be done on this mod. Please check DANMAN's mod:

7 Deadly Sins
NO SCREENSHOT/LOG = NO RESPONSE
You can find how to get the Log at the bottom of this First Post. To upload a Screenshot, use Imageshack and copy the 'Direct Link To Image' address your are given, and paste it here. Take as many screenshots as you think is necessary, or of any little thing you might think will help. For those of you without common sense, this means if you aren't sure you put it in the right place, take screenshots of where you put it, with the address bar visible. If its a problem in-game, take the screenshot in-game, showing the problem.

For a Multiplayer version of Sins Plus merged with a BailKnights Graphical Mod, see Adama Repack

Ship Graveyard
Random ships will be in these areas, dead in space. They can be captured by the Colony Frigates of all the Races.

4 New Research Subjects

Improved Tunneling (Level 4)
Widespread tunneling with improved equipment increases the population on Barren and Urban planets, as well as Asteroids. (Barren, Urban, and Asteroid population max increase)
Level 1: 10%
Level 2: 20%

Crew Derelict Ship (Level 5)
Allows Colony Frigates to capture derelict vessels found in ship graveyards.

Gas Giant Colonisation (Level 6)
Allows colonisation of Gas Giants.

Improved Anti-Grav (Level 7)
Allows larger colony platforms above Gas Giants due to improved Anti-Grav technology.
(Gas Giant population max increase)
Level 1: 25%
Level 2: 50%

66 New Planetary Bonuses
If you think I am listing them, you are gravely mistaken. ;)

However, in order to enjoy the wider range of Bonuses, I recommend changing the value of the 'planetBonusDensity' on the map you plan to play on. This can be found on the 8th line down of all the .galaxy files by opening them with Notepad, or something similar. These can be found in your main Sins directory at:
C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

or to find custom made maps at:
C:\Documents and Settings\**YOUR_USERNAME**\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

The default value is 0.400000, this means that 40% of Planets will have a Bonus. By changing this to 70%
(0.700000) or more you should notice Bonuses becoming more frequent. Enjoy!

If anyone wants to design a planet texture for either a new planet, or an existing one, please do, and PM me a preview and a link to the file. You will be given full credit if I use it. I recommend copying one of the existing planet textures in the Textures folder, and editing that. Don't forget, the light(_cl) and dark(_da) side both need altering. Good luck.

How to Enable the Debug Logs
Go to where you Mods folder is, but don't open it. There will be other folders, most for Saves, but one for Screenshots, and another called Setting. Open that, then open the file inside named: user.SETTING (open with Notepad). Now search for the line: LogOutput FALSE, and change it to TRUE. When it crashes next, go back to the folder with Saves, Mods, Screenshots, etc, and there should be a new folder called Debug. The log will be in there.

I've posted a new Ricks Galaxy version of "Sins Plus" at my web site for Entrenchment 1.05, I've updated this from an old vanilla sins version to try and get it back to the way it was. It includes * the 4 research's , *All the Sins Plus bonuses i could find (which really shrunk thru time), * Working Ship Graveyards, *Reset the planets stats and bonuses to original form (as close as possible) and included Volumetric ,Bailknights and few very minor changes.
If your intrested just use the link and go to my web site. When you get there you will find it on the Mod Links page.

is it possible to easily disable certain planets, also can i get this w/o bailknights graphics?

Help me!

I want to install this mod but the route where I must place the archives does not exist. If I open the game and I go to Options, then Mods, then Show Route (where the archives are) that place doesn't exist! And if I try to create new folders where it says, I can't: it says that there's another file with that name. Where?! I've tried to search it with the search engine of Windows (Start Menu) but it can't find anything. Please help!

Note: the version of the game is not a pirate copy; it's a original game, bough in the USA. I play in Spain (my computer is Spanish, but the game is in English, as the mod).

Thank you very much!

alpharius93, here is my standard mod install info

assuming you have sins 1.191/entrenchment 1.051/diplomacy 1.01,  the Mods NEED to be placed here for xp
C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-v1.191
C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Entrenchment v1.051
C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Diplomacy v1.011

or here for vista/windows 7
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-v1.191
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Entrenchment v1.051
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Diplomacy v1.011

NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , (xp)so to see them you must first click on 'tools' then 'folder options', then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktop

(vista/win7) go to control panel find folder options, then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktop

NOTE 2 the 'user name' in the above paths is your WINDOWS login user name, eg Administrator

and if the mod you want to use is from an EARLIER sins/entrenchment version place the mod in the mods folder FOR THAT version eg mods-entrenchment v1.03, then download and run my mods updater from the latest version archive which will have the same number as the vanilla sins version number, and AFTER updating the mod(s) to the current version for any mods of pre 1.04 entrenchment ALSO run the manifest maker on ENTITY manifests on EACH of the mods EXCEPT for total conversion mods

I'm going to ask something. If I want to create new models for a mod (with some 3D program), wich program should I use? Is that possible? Thank you very much!

hiya, i'm trying to install this with a vanilla version of sins v1.191. i tried both 1.3a and 1.3b and neither have worked. do i have to downgrade to an earlier version of sins or what can i do to solve this?

because the original sins plus 1.3a & b is for sins 1.05, but the current sins version is 1.191, and there are SO many incompatibilities AND differences in file structures between sins 1.05 & sins 1.191 that the mod would have to be rebuilt from the ground up, but the ricks galaxy for entrenchment should work in entrenchment, and also be able to be converted to diplomacy.

Coincidentally, I have been doing just this during this week.  I ported the planets and planet bonuses only from Sins Plus 1.3 into OS 1.191.  I'm adding it into my own mod which will feature greatly expanded research ( up to 80 levels on some topics ) and a 'heroic' class of capital ships that the player can get later in the game.  I'm probably going to offer this mod both as a whole and as each of these 3 separate parts (planets, heroic capitals, mega research).

Sweet...I was thinking of doing this myself...but if you're going to I won't have to! :D

I don't have a 3d editor thinger to recreate the meshes, anyway...although I dunno if there would be problems converting those to work with the current version of vanilla Sins or not. ;)

Turns out there's not a problem.  The planets are working with my vanilla sins 1.191 fine.  I have also tweaked the GalaxyScenarioDef to include the new planets in some random tables for MapDesigner, and other tables will have only original planets.  I have designed new planet categories for things like 'Terran-like', 'Metal Rich', and 'Crystal Rich'.  I have to admit though, since I am on a low spec machine and this mod is for OS, which includes a lot of other players with low spec machines, I did cut the asteroid graveyard planet because of the high memory cost of the many meshes and textures for it.

I think I need another week or so to bring my mod into compliance with the forum rules ( add screenshot, etc. ) and clean up a couple details, but I have the planets finished now, and if anyone wants that, they can just PM me asking for it and I'll try to get it to them.  Email is my suggestion for sending it.

xalderon,

there ARE no forum rules that require pictures, but it is a good idea to offer them if they can help people understand what the downloads offer. also email has a 5MB limit before some isp's block the emails, other isp's have a 10mb limit, and the only email addresses which allow larger emails than this are the gmail & hotmail web based emails,  which is why all the mods use various hosting sites like filefront, mediafire, filefactory etc.

Yeah I forgot how big all the textures are.  Even packed with some stuff removed it will be over 60 MB.  Maybe I can make a batch file to just convert the existing Sins Plus v1.3 to OS 1.191 with planets only.

Ok, just out of curiosity, is there a place I can get the version for diplomacy without any other graphical or other mods included? I have a slower computer and I'm a bit worried all those extra graphical mods will slow my computer.

Thanks in advance.

is there a version of sins plus that will work with entrenchment v1.051?

ah I just passed that by i thought it was something else.

thanks
