Save files will tend to compress nicely in a zip file.

This is a save game created with 0.61? Not an earlier build right?

woops zipping next time
yep, its the latest build 0.61b.009

I just played your save, same issue. i personally think it has something to do with the fact that you had over 200 ships attacking and moving at the same time... i had a save from an earlier version, that when i had over 200 ships moving and attacking, crashed. Anyway, when i played it it did crash, and i sent the dumpfile to the devs, just in case.

he thanks man
But i found a way around it. Since i had alot of units standing still, so i just ordered them to move, and i could play for 30min and the game crashed without a warning.
Might have had about 300-400 ships

Just played my first single player (OK I'm a bit behind). Not bad start I must say. Unfortunately it seems to crash the first time I wipe out a race.

I was playing in
1440X900
60Hz
2 Samples
Highest Texture

Win XP SP2
2.19Ghz Core 2 Duo
2 Gig RAM
256MB Graphics

That is a feature, the A.I. is so realistic that it crashes your PC out of spite when you beat it.

There's something a little twitchy with the repair platform... Seems like every time I select one and try to manually use the repair ability the game will freeze as soon as I mouseover the button for it. A little alt-tabbing will get me an error dialog with this error message:

Failed to find StringID: 'IDS_SUPPORTABILITY_REPAIRTECHPLANETMODULE_NAME'. NOTE: Any following StringID failures will be supressed.

I'm thinking that there's something missing from the file that it pulls the Infocard information from... check out this screenie:

I am able to continue playing after pressing "skip" on the error dialog.

Yep. Blair posted the fixed string file somewhere around here to hold us over until the next update (unfortunately I don't recall where it's at offhand).

The game runs like a windhound on:

AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual
Core Processor 3800+
2.06 GHz, 200 GB RAM
Radeon X800GTO

Game 1.rar

Attempting to load this save game causes the game to give two errors then CTD. I'm positive the savegame is from this version.

I was using Radiation Bomb the last two times my computer reset while playing Sins. I don't know if that means anything.

When I click on a planet, I can see all of the decorative enhancements (Ships flying around, mini asteroid fields, etc), but when I scroll the screen, they all disappear.

XP Professional
Intel P4 2.26 GHz
768 MB RAM
Radeon 9600 256 MB

edit: seems like Hizaed's problem

Happens for me also, its like once your attention is off the planet, it loses it pretty features.

Thirded.

However, when you focus to another object the decorations reappear, only to be gone when you pan away. Rotating doesn't effect it.

ps. New patch runs great. especially fixing the infobox lag.

I'm getting a minidump whenever i alt-tab out.
-Addendum the minidump is only while I'm actually playing the game.

also got a

AudioSystem: LoadSample Failure: Not enough memory : .\Sound\Explosion_Sub1_Alt2.ogg

error while I was building a repair orbital structure and a research orbital structure and I cancelled the research one.

Hey guys, where do we find the changes/fix information for the latest beta patches as they are released?
I’ve played a few games with the latest patch ( v0.62.010) and have noticed some new issues.

1. If enemy ships attack one of my planets while I am building a Phase Jump Inhibitor, their ships will sit around doing nothing. I can fire on them, and they will still do nothing. Once my Inhibitor is finally built, they start attacking again.

2. I’ve noticed that Empires that have been destroyed still have a culture effect.

3. I’ve noticed the occasional slow down while playing the game. The game and graphics stutters, as if my processing power is being used up. I didn’t have this trouble with any of the other versions of the beta. I've closed everything in the background, and the slow down didn't go away. But the funny thing is that if I just kept playing the game, the slow down disappeared after a while.

Old Issues that is still there.

1. Strike Craft still fly through the planets to reach their targets.

My Specs

Windows XP SP2
P4 3.2 (hyperthread enabled)
1 Gig DDR 400 in dual channel
7800 GS AGP video card
Asus P4C 800-E MB

Some AI problems (and yes, I play on hard):

1. AI attacks my borders for a bit with small forces. Once it loses a couple of fights, it usually doesn't EVER attack again. It doesn't even try to build up a massive force to attack at a later time. Nor does it try to get an alliance for the sole purpose of taking down my stronghold. Nor does it try to isolate me by building up a defense of its own.

2. When I attack an AI stronghold, and lose, the AI doesn't take advantage of my momentary weakness and counter attack. They just sit there and wait for me to build up and try again until I succeed.

3. Late in the game, I still come across the occasional planet/asteroid that the AI hasn't bothered to colonize. Even if the pirates are long dead, the AI doesn't always colonize planets that are just sitting there to be taken.

My Specs

Windows XP SP2
P4 3.2 (hyperthread enabled)
1 Gig DDR 400 in dual channel
7800 GS AGP video card

I've noticed they usually don't bother with the dead asteroids that have no resources... At least set up some defenses.....

I've seen them ignore good planets, not just dead asteroids..as opposed to the lively dancing asteroids.

I still have not seen the AI colonize a planet which it has to travel through a star to get to.
