I still have not seen the AI colonize a planet which it has to travel through a star to get to.

oh it happens... trust me!

I'm not going to bother posting all of my computer stats, but I'll make the point that:
I have a 1.4gHz processor, and it runs this game perfectly fine. I run it on low settings, but still... it works like a charm.

I am glad, I was afraid I would not get a chance to beat you in multi-player when the next beta is out...

So no luck on getting the new PC?

I've noticed that when I zoom in close on a planet and lock the camera, so I can scroll around it, After a little while all the ships and buildings on the planet surface go away..It looks like the planet has 1 population.

Video of it happening.

After playing a few small games I tried the medium size galaxy. After about 2 hours game play it booted me out and said that it had sent the software developer an error report. Now when I try to run the game it comes up with an error message "Error initializing audio device" then gives the options "skip" "skip all" and "break". It doesn't matter which one you select, it just send you back to desktop and doesn't start the game. All other games are running fine and my audio devices are all working properly.

I have just updated to 0.62[b].010 so hopefully this will have been corrected.

I was playing in;
1440X900
60Hz
2 samples
highest textures

Win XP SP2
Core 2 duo 2.19Ghz
2 Gig of RAM
256Mb Graphics

I just want to get this out there:
are the planets supposed to look like milky orbs? because I was under the impression that in real life, planets werent seethrough.

meh, probably because of my shitty system.

milky orbs? that is your system, as the planets look AMAZING on a decent system!

yeah, stars are fully (I think...) texturalized, but planets are fuzzy, seethrough orbs.

Strange, I didn't see any trouble with planets on my system.

Err..I haven't seen any milky orb planets. I know the asteroid planets glow if you have a ati video card.

When I discovered a new planet, it's infrastructure health bar in both the empire tree and the main view was bigger than the maximum size is supposed to be

Wow, thats one weird bug, let me see if any I come across do the same.

I have two G80s in SLI on a 30" at 2560 res and I'm in awe of the majesty of some of the suns. The last one I looked at I would swear was a real live image of the sun minus the plumes. I want to make a DreamScene file out of it for WC. But the 64Bit Vista version is not published yet for OD.

Auto-ability AI needs some tweaking. One of my Dunovs decided to use shield restore on an allied frigate... Ok. Except for the fact that said frigate was just passing through the system, so the Dunov proceeded to chase it through at least two phase jumps trying to use the ability on it...
Reply #168 Top
It must have had "finest hour" crew members on board.

I recently had an issue with the phase inhibitor. One of my cap ships decided it would chase an enemy ship in to his home territory (all by himself) and was trapped there by the phase inhibitor. I began jumping in the rest of his fleet as support, and said enemy offered me a cease-fire treaty. I accepted, and then proceeded to jump out my fleet, as I was persuing other factions at that time. The cap ship that had been originally stuck, was still stuck even though I had an alliance with the faction. To the best of my knowledge, there were other ships in system when the alliance went down, and none of them were stuck. I have been in similar situations in the past, and this has not occured (either way, me catching him or him catching me).

WC = WinCustomize.com
OD = Object Desktop (software)

A couple other faces of Stardock.

It really seems like the 0.60[b].010 update slows down machines. I never had any battles slow my system down until this update. In fact, prior to this update, I was all amazed at how smoothly mass battles ran. Now it seems like I'm not the only one noticing this. I've even used task manager to close down all non essential programs so I am only left with 21 running processes in the background.

Maybe it is all in my head, but I suspect this update has a memory leak, wasted processing, page file problem, too much debris to keep track of, or something.

I've begun two games using 0.62[b].010 Beta1, and got to a point in each where it will not allow me to continue to attack planets. In each I am using a large galaxy with the max. number of opponents, high resources, etc., and when I get to about 5 or 6 planets left to conquer in my beginning star system (that means I have roughly 15 to 18 planets under my control)the problem begins. I begin to attack another planet, and all movement on the screen freezes, the normal voice and music sound is gone with the sound seeming like it is 'stuck' repeating a single note, then CTD.

With the first game I tried different things like attacking different planets, taking different routes, etc., but each time it CTD ... five times in a row.

I have already sent the SmartException logs in, but I was just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this.

There is another thread about number of objects limitations. You are likely running into the same issue.

Really annoyed now.... Same audio problem as before, (reply #157). After the last time I tried to use media player and had the same technical fault so figured I needed to update/reload my audio drivers. I did this and media player worked fine again (horay - we have music!). As soon as I played one game of Sins again it screwed everything up. I get the same error message as before and all my audio doesn't work. I now can't load up Sins either (as before). Strangely it also makes my task bar go to Win 98 style - strange. I hope I don't have to reinstall all of my chipset and audio drivers every time I want to play....
