Steam reviews of Galciv III have fallen, but let us not lose hope, for there are ways to make this an even better game to regain the hopes of gamers! Here are my suggestions:
1) Planetary Invasion RTS mode:
Instead of simply making planetary invasion rather dull with a single select screen as it is right now, I suggest that it is possible to turn every instance of planetary invasion into a full-fledged RTS. Each hex on the planetary map will have its own "campaign mission" to conquer that particular hex, and so on until every hex is conquered. In these missions, the game becomes a real-time strategy game, so you build and command buildings and units until the world is taken over.
2) Assassination mode:
This is somewhat like espionage, where one trains assassins or spies to go and infiltrate the enemy base, to assassinate key leaders or sabotage key planets. The game becomes a FPS shooter game in this mode, and there will be a rotation of around 100 maps for variety.
3) City-builder mode:
Why make do with just the current city-building mode where we build on tiles? We can extend it by incorporating a Simcity-like engine where we get to emulate entire cities to build up from sketch.
4) Sim mode:
Adding on to (3), we can make each of these emulated cities explorable via a FPS perspective, where one can literally explore the insides of EVERY building, or get on a space fighter to travel around the empire. After all, what is the point of building when we cannot even explore what we have created?
5) Evolution mode:
Instead of having the game start with the civilizations being given to us, we can have a Spore-like mode where we seed and evolve lifeforms until they finally become intelligent. Then, before the space age starts, the game will be like (1), a planetary RTS mode until space travel has been discovered.
6) Multiple Galaxy mode:
Instead of letting the game end at just 1 galaxy, why not incorporate all the billions of galaxies in this universe? That way there will be endless variety.
7) Heroes and Magic:
Add heroes to the game that will help govern planets, or pilot ships, or even lead invasions or espionage. Some heroes will have spells, such as frost cannon or meteor strike in order to make espionage games a success.
8) Extended Ship designer:
Instead of having players design by giving them already-done parts, why not let the extended ship designer allow them to design EVERY component of the ship? Down to the last micro-transistor or fusion reactor. This will make it far more realistic for players, since one requires the knowledge of hundreds of specializations to design one.
So these are my ideas for Galciv III. Now my role is done. It is up to the developers to make this a reality.
