Good unit names

creative writing time

Brain storming time!

 

I'm trying to come up with cool names for the AI to refer to their various units as well as suggested names for human players.

I have names like Oath Keepers and Sentinels but this is an area where I think it might be fun to try to include some names the players.

These are names that would randomly appear on unit designs created by/for the AI?

They would potentially appear as suggested unit names (rather than "King's Ward" or "Barons").

The idea being to give each faction their own flavor.

-Tatars

-Cossacks

-Hussars

-Streltsi

-Huns

-Kazaki

-Ronin

-Samurai

-No-dachi

-Ninja

-Ashigaru

-Yari

-Saboteur

-Crusader

-Squire

-Avant Guarde

Then there are allusions to other great games:

-Black Hand

-The Foot

-Sardaukar

-Stormtroopers (might not want to piss off Lucas though)

-Oni

-Fanatic

-Inglorious Basterds

When all that is used it helps to add:

-Novice

-Apprentice

-Journeyman

-Adept

-Expert

-Elite

-Master

If it could filter by Sovereign's gender and also by faction when selecting the random name: Queen's Ward, Emperor's Ward, Empress' Ward.

 

Steel Guard (defender type), Red Guard, Battle Maidens (spearwomen with armour and with or without horse/warg), Guard Maidens (defender type), Wasp Maidens (archers), Legionnaires (spearmen with leather armour).

  • Death Watch - for metail armored (chain or plate) forces of the Wraith
  • Death Riders - for mounted forces of the Wraith
  • Death Wall - Wraith Spearmen armed with shields and skilled with the Shield Wall Trait and Spear Wall combat option (i.e. Move -1 gives them +50% defense as they advance upon the enemy as an unbreakable wall of spears)
  • Black Rain - for Wraith Archers who rain poisoned arrows upon their targets
  • Maggots - for untrained Wraith militia - i.e. wraith cannon fodder
  • Reapers - for Wraith Swordsmen known for slicing the heads off their opponents with their great swords
  • Brain Eaters - for Wraith footmen who eat the brains of those they slay after a battle is won
