Playing 1.0.8 and really enjoying it

Just wanted to post that I have been playing a couple of games of elemental with version 1.0.8, and really enjoying the game.  I've been a beta tester forever, but I have to say that if I had bought the game as it is now without having been through the beta cycle, I would not have been disappointed.  I feel like the pacing and gameplay is really coming together.

One of the things I like about 1.0.8 is that things have slowed down a bit, and it takes a while for your empire to start coming together.  I also feel like the tactical battles are getting more balanced.

Thanks to Stardock for creating this game, and also for dealing well with the crazyness on this board.

Yup 1.08 is great and has playable stability. If only mana was not randomly zeroed my army would be unstoppable, well it already is but i could make more fireworks on my way to victory.

Hmmm, i started a new game with 1.0.8 and it was much more stable then before. (I had a crash or a complete freeze nearly every hour)

 

But i had the impression that the AI is seriously broken now, i played with 4 AIs on "Challenging" in a tiny map and most AI never build a second city or build units. Some summoned some minor demon and had some equipment, so i could conquer all cities with minimal effort.

Also the archers seem do be broken, they always misses even against the simple 4 health 0 defense Wolf. I had a situation where a 8 Longbowwomen Unit Lost against a 4 health Wolf.

If you have arrow missing problem, make sure you have the latest version. There was one that broke it, and they released a fix later.

If you've downloaded the beta (Multiplayer version,) the archers are broken, I believe.  I had to uncheck beta downloads and uninstall and reinstall to get the latest single player version, where archers are ok.  (Other things seemed to be working better as well.  I believe it was the 'friday flash patch' that helped.

I play Elemental most of the time on my laptop and without a internet connection so i missed the patch after 1.08

Nearly finished the session without archers, so i will try them in the next game.

1.08 does seem more stable and for the most part the improvements are in the right direction.

 

one GIANT exception....  Kingdom side Weapons Tech  MACES 6 attack > WARHAMMER 5 attack for no apparent (none documented) reason this change is discouraging me from going hammers and then light plate ...I mean why not swap hammers and maces or swap there values or make hammers 7 or 8 attack?  No explanatian so either its a bug SD added or they expect it to be obvious enough that we do not deserve an note on why? 

In fact I would appreciate just removing Warhammers from the Kingdom side as they are now...  let kingdom just go Broadsword/BattleAxes and then straight to light plate...That would work for me... but adding a tech hurdle that makes no sense and provides no value is ... insulting.
