We've been having some fun doodling up concepts for one of the more "major" major races in the sequel to GC. They’re an evil race (hence the prevalent spikes), with a taste for the finer things in the universe (the Life Force of other creatures, Grilled Stuffed Burritos, ect). Enjoy! <IMG alt="DL01" src="https://www.joeuser.com/sdfi

lol! Nothing like a clever narritive to drive home a point ;)
I really do like how the rings are progressing..the only thing we really need are specific rings per planet texture, and I'll get those to you tomorrow (If you could email me the textures we're using at the moment). GC2's engine is getting pretty exciting :)
Beautiful! :) I really think Brad will be happy with the arrangement of planets this way. As for the work that needs to be done on the battles, I'll get you some different colored shots when I get in tomorrow morning. Great work!
Very Nice :) Can't wait to see that effect in the game!
Hehe. No, CB is my friend Stacie...and beleive me - she's being as sarcastic as possible :(
Thanks CB...I try my best. ;)
StarAnim_Test01a ScottT here, messing with quick ways to make the Space in GalCiv2 more sexy . One of the main hurdles has been to replicate Alex's fancy 2d sprite-stars in a 3d environment. The code team got the stars rendering, textured, and rotating pretty easily, and the addition of a 'halo' to each star has brought us even closer to our goal. However, the one thing&
"meeing in 'I'" == "meening I" *sigh* Time to go home, I suppose.
:( We (meening in 'I') need an edit button.... "shot enough" == "short enough" I'm a boob.
OK Dawgs, this is my take on the laser.... The meat of the animation is about, what, 7 frames long? This is shot enough (IMHO) that we could turn it into an alphablended filmstrip and play that bad-boy on a scalable plane with a function like... PlayLaserBlast(v3OriginIn, v3DestIn) Where the Left side of the plane would be positioned at the origin, and the right side would be stretched to the destination. Then we'd make sure the image face of the plane is facing up t
Thats some crazy shizt, you're pumping out there, Joe! I'd still love to see the glow extend past the mesh, but one step at a time ;)
I've been officially moved to Political Machine, so I don't know about some of the issues you brought up, but I'll touch on the ones that I can... 2.) I agree...though I don't know how hard it'd be to get things animating in that window. 4.) { and } will cycle backwords and forwards through your set rally points (respectivly). Hopefully Cari can chat about what can be done in terms of the other issues ;)
I had this problem too...and unless Cari tweaked it, you'll have to make sure the MP3's are on the same HD partition that GalCiv is on, otherwise it'll think that it can't find them (and thus, the quick cycling of the titles).
Sounds like a pretty reproducable bug...send the saved game (folder and ".sav" file) to [email protected] or [email protected] and we'll take a look into it ;) Thanks.
Holly: OK, glad to hear the updated version is working a bit better. A couple places to keep an eye out for crashes.... -Autosaving: Is it crashing after pressing the turn button on a month that the game should be autsaving your progress? -Uploading to Metaverse: It's weird that disconnecting the internet would solve the problems, but we have had firewall issues when players try to upload their score. If disconnecting the internet solves the random connections thro
It's possible there's a faulty UP issue in the mix. Move all those files to a BAK folder somewhere (if you want) and extract the below file to the "Data/UP_Issues" folder. Let me know if you still get the crashes :) www.galciv.com\download\up_issues.zip
Cotal: Could you send that saved game to [email protected] or [email protected]? We'll load it up in a debug build and find out what's getting messed up ;) Hally: Hate to keep prodding you for info, but in the end that's the only way to find out what's going wrong with your version (we have about 10 different test boxes in the office, and never got that kind of constant crashing). OS is actually pretty important (the Bink sdk we use, and even Di
Sephlock: I know that if you're running a lower-end comp with win9x, the bink drivers have a harder time pumping out the movies. If you're machine specs are around 600mhz with 98 or ME running, you'll get some choppiness on the in-game cuts. Goonies: Did you download the game or purchase it at the store. If you DL-ed it, you'll have to make sure the Multi-Media pack properly installed, otherwise you'll just get still images.
Hmm...perhaps we need to put a cap on sector influence ;)
That is odd...I'll talk with our webmaster and see what could be the prob. :notsure:
That would certainly be an interesting event...you're playing against the brain-dead Torians when suddenly their race undergoes a psychological transformation (a futuristic "removing of the crayon", if you will) and becomes the most intelligent race in the galaxy. Hopefully you were nice to them when they were dumb, cause if not...hoo-boy! ;) As for being able to change data in the file, I'm afraid they're pretty tough to alter outside of the game. For right now, the
#3 is actually availabot on the "Options" screen..."GNN ignores Active Governor" I beleive. And while it isn't the most integrated solution, you can open the PlanetList window while on the governors screen and left click on one of the project windows to bring up the "Quick Projects" window. I use that whenever I have questions about a certain type of improvement (be sure to open the window from a fairly new planet, though).
Not at the moment, but we'll add it to our list of suggestions :) ~SDC~
I'll talk with the webmaster and see if there's something we can do for you. Also, send your problem to [email protected], he should be able to help you more than me ;) ~SDC~
