I agree that Capital ships should be researched and harder to gain than Cruisers. Maybe let the support type Capital ships be lower on the research tier, leaving the pure capital ship killers towards the top. As it is now, I only reach the Capital Ship Yard upgrade and start spamming Capital ships of some variety, ignoring completely Cruisers. I own the galaxy with my mega death fleets of Capital ships only. Serious problem IMHO.

This is a small buglet still present as of Beta 2-18. If you research the Fortified Civilian Ship Upgrade to give your trade and refinery ships more hull hitpoints, a small oddity happens. Instead of going from say 500/500 to 600/600, you only get 500/600. Now the AI thinks these ships have been damaged and needs repair. The Robots Crusiers will chase these ships all over the map trying to 'repair' them up to full health. The ship do not stop at a repair dock to repair themselves eithe
If you took away Oblivion graphics and such, it is a dumbed down console port. MW was longer and more in depth. Oblivion is not a very long game are. It is about 1/4 the size of MW. Oblivion does have a better lockpicking and persuasion minigame. But for everything a step forward, a huge step backwards. It definitely was made for the console gamer. I give it a 8/10 for a fun ADVENTURE game with some RPG elements. Without all the hype...and living off the fra
Yeah, it is a watered down version of a city builder. No brains involved. boring.
There is a free standing no activation download of the 1.1beta finally released right now in downloads section. No Stardock involved. I just downloaded it 25 megs and patch my game. Have you tried that? About activation that confused people the 'O' and the '0' look the same.
So did mine from Wal-Mart CE, but there was still other minor upgrades to be had from Stardock Central to movies and such CE extra ship dress up components for eye candy. You have to make an account to receive the updates. There is no stand alone download for it. It is a bit laborious, but once you are done, you are done forever. Then just click on update once in a while to see if anything new has come along, such as the beta 1.1
I hope in a future expansion they can add in those Special Weapons like Master of Orion had, it made it very interesting. The again, the Ai will need to understand how to use it. This is were MOO 1, 2 does beat GalCiv2. Special Weapons and tactical combat. But GalCiv2 has better Ai.
It does but not so obvious. If you ask for something and have nothing to offer to trade, the AI wil evaluate your military strength and will reply "You are too weak to make demands of us" if the AI percieves you as weak. As for it being logical, that is another story.."see this Stellar Convertor hanging over your head..."
It seems to cost ALOT to upgrade a simple laser to a laser II. It would be cheaper to buy a new ship! Am I missing something? I only had *one* ship of a class (10 hitpoints 50% ability trait). I wanted just a basic small upgrade but it would cost me 500 BC. I am playing on easy 'fool' AI to learn the game mechanics.
patch 1.1 preview says tech trading can be disabled.
