We’ll be having the dev team check it out soon- thanks for the detailed information

"This version 6.54 will no longer let me move items from one fence to another, or even to another page—sends it right back." This is typically an installation or licensing issue (or licensing issue by way of install issue). Troubleshooting → Create Error Report might help us diagnose, but also likely uninstall, reboot, manually clear %programfiles%\Stardock\Fences
Also to be clear are we speaking about Folder Portals or regular icon groups?
Hi, able to mock up a screenshot of what you might want? Not sure we follow and so a more specific flow would help. "Before" and "After, what happens now" and "After, what I'd like and what happened" would be helpful. Unsure if we can accomodate but we always like to add useful things where we can find room. Thank you!
not sure what you. mean here. if the colorization is a problem, please uncheck "Tint icons" in "Personalization", and/or include a screenshot to show what you're speaking of thank you
Hi, known problems with v6.52 which were patched out and released; please check out v6.54? If using v6.54 already please let us know. Direct link available here: https://forums.stardock.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Fstardockcorporation.sharepoint.com%2F%3Au%3A%2Fs%2Fsoftware%2FIQC6v4VusCvVTYVKBNfWZqyDAbkG_KTrb6DEN
Hi. Please enable "Advanced logging" from the About → Troubleshooting menu, reboot (so that it takes effect), and then next time it occurrs please return to troubleshooting menu and select "Create error report". It will include necessary information. Take a snapshot backup in the Layout panel for "before" and "after" if possible to help the team track it down.
Correct yes, 14 years of Fences 2 worked out to about 70 cents per year. Costs of maintaining and enhancing a software title are different than what they were before but we hope you find the new version of value. It's a different price structure than you were used to but we offer the subscription for the point of staying up to date, as Windows changes more frequently than it used to.
Hi - I'm not sure what you mean. Fences automatically adjusts to changes in resolutions. It is not doing this. In v5 it was an option, but in v6 it's turned on for everyone. Let us know if it's not working correctly for you, as our intent is that it works for everyone. Thank you
Hi Lysme, thanks for the suggestion. Yes team is still looking to see what improvements they might be able to make with newer versions of Windows 11, which still have the same limitations, but have created a little bit of opportunity in terms of Peek. Wondering if you might show a little more of what you're looking for? One gotcha is that Blur is an issue. Fences doesn't use the system's blur, for technical reasons. But it would have to [try to] use some form of this if bought
Hi Roy, there was a known performance issue in v6.52. Please give v6.54 a try and see if it resolves? Yes uninstalling and reinstalling a new one will be fine, just be sure to say no to erasing your settings during uninstall, and be sure to reboot before trying to reinstall. v6.54 you can install right on top of v6.52 and just reboot after install to apply <a href="https://stardockcorporation.sharepoint.com/sites/software/Shared%20Documents/Forms/
Oh wow so it's specific ones! The one thing that comes to mind – if "View" → "Show on all pages" is set for a specific group, then that group will not cause the pages to switch, i.e. what you're seeing. But, I'm guessing you'd notice. (Perhaps?) So perhaps there's a bug around that. Be sure to create a report so that we can try to find/fix, and after that, maybe try toggling View → Show on all pages on and off for the group that is "stuck". Maybe that fixes. An
I can confirm, looks like a licensing issue. 2026-08-12 01:33:31,623 - ACTIVATION PROBLEM - unable to read SAS License file. Will need to look into ways to debug this further, but a couple things that come to mind: - Clearing out the licensing directory, i.e. remove "%programdata%\Stardock\Fences6" and then log off and log back on. Re-activating should resolve the issue, if indeed a problem with %programdata% permissions was related. (If no activation screen, o
Hi spaceart, you can roll back to any version without losing your settings yes, just be sure careful to not click "remove settings" during uninstall and everything will pick up where it left off. (Also, be sure to reboot after uninstall, before reinstalling.) If you install a v5 copy on top of v6, tabs will become ungrouped. Curious to see what's going on but indeed, we're trying it on our test machines and are not seeing this. If you'd like to submit your settings via Ab
Hi deadleader6, this type of problem is typically an installation problem, or a codesign certificate problem on the machine. Please try giving it an uninstall and reinstall? Just be sure to say "no" to removing your settings during uninstall and it'll pop right back. (Reboot needed after uninstall, but not after the reinstall.)
w00t! thank you for the response! We'll be getting this out pretty quick as it's a quick patch to the current release. Unless we find anything else we want to adjust, will be same version number so no additional update.
Hi, I see an update is installing in your screenshot. Could you try the update, v6.52 and see if it helps? Direct link to the latest copy is here: https://stardockcorporation.sharepoint.com/:u:/s/software/IQC6v4VusCvVTYVKBNfWZqyDAbkG_KTrb6DEN33aindl67c?e=cia2A1
Definitely not an unusual setup! We have users with 7+ monitors. v6.52 has significant improvements in this area, so, disappointing it's not resolved. Would be glad to take a closer look if this continues to happen with your new setup.
Hi, please try "Fix icon spacing" and log out / log back on. Loose desktop icon positioning is a Windows setting. Per my colleague's comments above, I'm wondering what the icon spacing is like on desktop with Fences disabled? We've made adjustments to spacing logic to fix issues on systems that have undergone DPI changes, so looking to make su
Hi cag_dk, if you still have your F6 license and/or wish to start a trial, I think we may have fixed this. There was a pretty clear "two systems fighting eachother" issue that found its way into the last release. Feel free to try the beta at this link https://stardockcorporation.sharepoint.com/:u:/s/software/IQC6v4VusCvVTYVKBNfWZqyDAbkG_KTrb6DEN33aindl67c?e=cia2
Got it. Yikes. Ok. This is note good, so we'll get looking at this. "Create new folder" → rename causing issues is something we've heard before, but believed was resolved. Hopefully Control+Z helped undo. Let us know if you're able to reproduce.
Sure thing. We've forwarded your note the to dev team.
Hi slamani, You can do this today by enabling the setting from Explorer, within its options panel Though, we are looking at finding a way to add this so you can enable it on the desktop only. Does the above take care of it, or are you looking for desktop only, not "all of explorer"? Thanks for your thoughts
Thanks for the report, noted. Yikes. If you'd like to use the functionality About → Troubleshooting → Create troubleshooting report, we can take a look at your settings just in case anything jumps out. We're going to look to see if there are any conditions that might cause this. Please hold!
Hi Elizabeth, Was this "Scanner Folder 2001" inside a Fence group, and it got renamed while hidden? Was this group rolled up or otherwise scrolled off screen? It sounds like multiple things got renamed? What triggered the action, do you know? Was it "Create New Folder" and then renaming that new folder, or just a rename of an existing file/folder? Thanks for the information
