Forgot to add I am playing 1.5 and I did use Cntl-N to refresh my galaxy once.

So, check this out, I was playing a game with a huge galaxy on suicidal with most things common, no tech trading, 5 races and no minor races. I made sure I DID NOT randomize intelligence and used max CPU. I was owning in the beginning and taking no world under class 10 even got to about half way across the map with colony ships and my economy was just starting to boom after the end of the first year. "I cannot not believe I was doing so well", I though to myself. Kept expecting a flo
Oh and I didn't even use rest the map until I got a galaxy that I liked. It was the first try.
Does Super Diplomat make it easier to buy planets? Do you have to have an overwhelming diplo ability for this to work? I saw this strategy a couple days after it was posted and I could not believe it could happen. Immediately I started a suicidal game and tried out this strategy using the Drath. There opening Diplomacy bonus is a little bit higher, I think they get better approval also. So I thought this would help in making the planets cheaper, getting my economy out of the whol
So I don't quite understand how the slider to build spies works, is it based off how many you have already build, how many you have in your inventory, or how big your economy is?
jwburks Your problems is simple to solve. Change these things: 1. Don't build more than one factory on each planet (until you stablize your economy). 2. Build most if not all of your of your colony ships (don't buy them). 3. Switch to from technologists to feduralists (if you don't yet know how to tweek your economy you will need that boost). 4. After building 0-1 factories on your planets build nothing but market places. 5. THIS IS THE MOS
I have two questions. One, does the bonus moral for espionage centers recieve the bonus for moral bonus tiles? Because if I does I might switch to playing Kyrnn Two, Is there anyway to speed up asteroid upgrades/construction? As it stands I find even the second level at 10turns per asteroid cluster tedious. Also do the asteroid industry points get bonuses from powerplants/manufacturing capital (i.e. percentage bonues).
So quick question, If the visible starbase influence ring is touching a planet at all it gets bonuses? Is there any instance where the starbase influence circle is touching a planet (say on the very edge of the ring) but it does not affect the planet because and optical illusiion or coding error?
Thanks for the tips guys. I knew you can choose where to send them. The tip about setting the miner to automate should do the trick for me. Thanks all.
So first off I love everything the devs have done with DA (except spying which I don't think has really changed much) but I am confused on one part. How do I upgrade the asteroid mines. I reserached the next level of space mining and thought it would upgrade automatically. No such luck. Do I have to use my mining ship to do it? If so how do I do it with the mining ship? Please help I am lost. I also saw the asteroids had numbers(an amount?) before I started mining them. Does that mean th
How do you tell if enemy spies are on your planets?
Oh my..... Once I read your post Divine I had to respond because it was just.... Well let me start off by saying that we "fiddle" with genetic code just by selecting the person we have a child with. Do you like blonds, brunettes, tall people, less agressive people, those that have a smaller nose, those that are more athletic. Trust me when you pick those people out to have a child with you are selecting for genes and "fiddling" with the genetic code of your offsring. You just can't easily s
I would not worry about genetic engineering too much. I am a molecular biologist that specializes in development and how genes interact. Trust me when I say they don't have a lot of the genetic engineering figured out yet. Yes the human genome is sequenced but we don't know what most of the genes do yet or how they interact with each other. This is going to be a long way off before someone can safely test these techniques in humans.
Yeah basically beginners should read Intellekt's post. He has a very good sense of strategy. Besides that know what stuff does. Know how population relates to taxes and income. Know how much it costs for you to produce each research and manufacturing point. Get a general understanding of moral vs tax rate. Figure out how populations grow. Post all the settings of your game when you ask a question for better answers (i.e. Large galaxy, abundant planets...). If you dont understand these and
I always rush throught the engine tree to Impulse III before the end of the colony rush. Though I usually don't finish impulse III until the colony rush is almost done survey ships can then take advantage of the speed (survey ships with speed between 12 and 16). I usually get about 1/2 of the anomalies on a common anomaly setting with 5 opponents. I think its a huge advantage (especially if you have the creative pick and hit a lot of the civilization graveyards), plus if you tech trade you ca
I don't quite understant how the pop bonus works in DA or DL. Say you picked the 70% population bonus for an ability and you run your moral at 75%. Does that mean you get 70%(Ability) + 25%(moral bonus growth) = 95%??????? Please help me understand
Make sure you upgrade to 1.4 if you haven't already done so 0. Starbases and diplomacy. Grab the starbases you want and make friends with everyone you can't beat with you military (if you even have one at all). 1. Engines help colony rush (more valuable with larger maps). You can also trade them away toward then end of the colony rush when they don't help the computer as much but the computer still values them as a good tech trade. Then get diplomacy toward the end of the col
You play very similar to what I do. However on higher difficulty levels tech trading is essental. If a computer opponent who has more production, planets, and better weapons tech comes at you in early game (which often happens) you need to tech trade or you are smoked. Oh and with the two larger galaxy settings the 1 point cost for luck becomes really valuable. You can get more ethical desions on planets to give them a bonus.
There will always be a phase in the game where you will seem behind (especially in tech). Don't worry about it. The best indicator of your progress is your population size. Just stay friendly with all the other races through trade routes and a neutral allignment. As long as you choose who you want to fight and when you will do just fine.
While I do agree that the distance relations between trade planets needs to be looked at and that trade is not a large part of my total income I disagree with alot of other statements. First of all, trade is quick to research on the tech tree and frieghters are cheap to build so trade is not very time consuming or expensive to start. It is also a very good way to boost relations without giving other civilizations something valuable to you in return. Just compare how much money you would have
I play 1.4 and I notice that they do get far ahead in the weapons/defense techs. I don't know how they do it either but I use it to my advantage. I alway try to make friends with them and get a diplomacy rating much higher than theirs. Then with a decent economy you just wait for them to get near the end of the tech and buy that tech off of them. The only thing I noticed is they place a much higher vaule on the very last stage in the weapons/defense techs so just to buy the one just below it
Does anyone know what the difference between purchasing price is between neutral allignments and non-neutral allignments. Is it 10%, 20%, 30%??????
Thanks for all the help. I just changed my nickname because I could not figure out how to do that before.
I forgot to mention that I am running 1.40
