"We have not exactly been a Planet of peace and love since nukes were invented" This planet has never been one of peace and love. The high point was probably the Roman Empire or the Bitish Empire. And they were neither the peace an love types. Peace and love types only exist when rough men await to do there bidding while they sleep soundly in beds. Duh "History beats politics"

Fired up a new game just to see what it would be like to play a Super Isolationist with +30 planet quality. I am finding it works well for my style of play. (am not the best have not won on crippling yet but on normal I rock). The Stratigic bonus of being an Isolationist is not much in the early game but later on it is real helpful. It adds weeks on to the preperations time to repel vile invaders. Combined with Eyes of the Universe and an agressive espionage policy it works well.
Um... thats easy Hooters and jump nekkid bars. I am sorta old fashioned I do at least 2 or more econ buildings, 2 or more factories, 1 or more moral buildings, only 1 farm, 1 or more research centers, counter espionage (as soon as I get it) and make damn sure I get the Tir Quan Training. Also Eyes of the Universe is very very handy and with it you do not need as big a navy. It also helps when you combinde it with Isolationists. Duh
Sounds like TP Scot has a unreasonable anger at the US. Is it because we really dont care a fig about what the rest of the world thinks? That the US should be run by some non elected government drones from Brussels? If you really dont like someone why in the world would you tell them that. Learn from Genghis Khan. "Never speak before you strike." Or maybe he just believes what the media says or is a green. Duh
What of the UNIX confederation? The Linuxians, the SCOlians, and those leather clade BDSers? Sure there ships are made out of bits and pieces of well everything but... it works every time. All left over junk hardware can be incoperated. There a smaller empire but much smarter. Duh
Starship Troopers and then Gust Front by John Ringo Duh
Well if your playing for a long run game I have found they work well around the manufacturing capital. with a plus 120 on top of a 125% (mfg captial and a Quantum generator). Let say you got a Triple and a double precurser mine tile and another facotry at minumum thats 144 MFPs. That gets you 444 mfp when you add it up. but then again my math may be off. I like playing long games where long term payoff is more important than short term. Although I rarely make military starbases.<b
One thing that I have found that sorta gives the AI pause is destroying a colony to prevent capture. The AI seems to step back a bit from this type of thing. Duh
Well In my current game I have found if I have one Intensive Farm, 2 VR and 3 or more Stock Exchanges it works pretty well but I have to keep my fleets relitivly smaller than in Gal Civ II DL. Duh
How about this for turning the tide and dumb AI mistakes. The Yor declared war on me after I took two of there planets with influence that they settled in my space. I my navy was realitivly small but I was the Tech leader and had just found a Lucky Ranger (being lucky pays). The Yor got there Allies the Dregin to attack me too. They did something smart here they both attacked at the same time. I had my fleet pull a fighting retreate and destroyed the colonies I took. My Fleet arriv
well I did get the Arcean home would and hammer with just one upgraded all the way. Very odd game. They get pissed when I move them off my planets. They espically dont like my Dry Gulcher class Troopship (speed 40) Duh
This weekend started a game of DL instead of DA because I was tired of every time getting the speed 5 speed limit. Gigantic Galaxy, Scattered Stars, Battle of the Gods, Painful. Put everything into social spending and just bought most of my colony ships until I had a few established colonies. Ended up with about the east quarter when it was all said and done. Whats werid was the Dregin, Yor and Korx were all mostly still born. They may of colonized one or two planets and just
Turning off mega events smacks of cheating to me. It just that this game is now going to take 2 weeks to play. Plus my Grendal DN captins cry themselves to bed each night (slowest ship in my fleet only 13 speed). Yes it is more anoying than being forced into a war through that secret meeting thing. Your right dystopic. They did such a good job that I want to give them a percussion massage with my swiss holy water sprinkler (sorta like a morningstar) <img src="http://images.s
Guys I think there should be some type of fix for it. I mean really. I dont like tech victories and keep them turned off. I think they need to come up a turn cruse button. I understand how it changes. Gaurdian fleets now have to cover a 5 square radius instead of a 13 or 23 (depending on fleet makeup). Going fast is the one thing in the game there is NO defense for. Getting there first with the most always wins. The speed limit also annoys my Grendal DN crews they only get R&R after the
I hate the speed limit of 5 event. Plauges no prob thats why I carry a sliderule, Peace Keeper fleet nasty but fun, OOO goody break away colonies all fun to handle. The one thing there is no work around that I know of is the galactic speed limit of 5. I picture the starship captains with there old hadrian grandma by them ready to whack them with an umbrella if they go to faster than 5. Why its the wimpyfication of the male of the species all over again. On Huge maps this takes the game down
Yes Cargo Surverys rock. 3 engines, 2 life support 2 or three sensors and a survey module. And as an added bonus your not stuck with them when the galaxy is explored. Turn them in to basic constructor ships. Duh
Well tetleytea, what I do is ask what Teddy Rosevelt would do and I get a pretty good answer. Duh
The Galaxy was spinning in Greased groove. The Yor were rapidly being convered into toasters, toaster ovens, sewer pipe, and game consoles. They jumped my buddies the Jessilns who are big trading partners. So I am sending my legions of Hairless Monkey legions to take their planets. I notice the Dark Yor are there too and jump them because they would not give me there Econ Resource Starbase. The next Turn the mess around with some Ancient widget and get a Peace Keeper fleets!. ok there set u
all I can say is speed bump. Both times they showed up I had disrupter Tech and Advance Troop Mod. Dread Lords arrive still born IMHO Duh
Well what irks me is that race of intelligent critters that are war machines that eat your colonists. How is it Good to say oh well I guess the smiths will loose there smallest daughter cindy to them if we let them roam free to be. Intelligent or not it is not good to let them live. The evil choice is the only good one. LOL... they must be greenies. shakes head If the USA was settled like that there would be thirteen second world nations and a big mass of third world nations from
Well, dystopic, if that were how the world truely worked the Roman empire would of never came about and the world would be a much colder place without Concrete (the only Roman Invention). Think what the world would be like today if we never dropped the bomb. Japan would of been made into a sheep pasture and roughly half of us would not be here. Well If the critter eats people and is senite thats all the more reason to wipe them out. Who knows they might take over the planet a
Well am playing a battle of the Gods. Its interesting there no colony rush by the other AI's. Infact I have seen AI surrender because the Yor or Dregin looked mean at them. But by the time my second 1000 colonist capital ship is ready I have built my population back (I take Mil production to 0) and am working on my Economic Capital or Aphrodisiacs. Yeah I take a pretty big hicky and in the red for a while on the capital but my colonies start being profitable alot quicker.<br
Yeah heck, my current game I have built up my major trading buddy (a minor race and have given the Lenz the rest of the planets in the system. Yeah I know it just erks me that political correctness and fluffy bunny stupidity of the ethical choices. Ahhh but Tetleytea the neutral and evil choices does not allow you to make the beast with two backs. and if you choose gaming over that past time I think you might be ready for the monestary lol. Duh
Well folks, look at the historal record of the planet. To people who colonize good is defined as Women and Children first, everything else is dross. Duh
Um, Boss our third exploritory Marine battalion just go mauled bad by some critter they woke up on a world to be colonized. They really like our people and think they make excelent food. Your choices are. 1} Bugger the colonists I want them to feel free to live as nature intended (The wolves running through the streets of Paris (and why there are few if any wolves in France) (This is the good choice) Some one must think this is a Terry Pratchett Novel. 2) Heck the t
