I stopped playing online when I started using the Sins Plus mod and the mod that gives you 10,000 fleet points. I found maps with 1 or 2 stars with tons of planets to be unrealistic and not as interesting as maps with 10-20 stars with less planets, and I thought the planet type variety was lacking. When you play with lots of stars, the standard fleet sizes(even using large fleets) are not enough to defend all of your stars. You get more of an epic feel with large maps with lots of stars, in my o

The problem was that I didn't uninstall my beta version! Once I did that everything worked fine. Anyone else who has this problem....make sure you've uninstalled the beta version first! You can do it straight from Stardock Central by right clicking on your Twilight icon in the My Games section.
Aha.....if you have the beta version you have to uninstall it before installing the full release version. ;p
re: #5 I'm having the same problem. Glad to hear canceling and starting over does the trick!
Let me know how it goes! I made a top post about this about ten minutes ago but it is not showing up on the forum. :/
I've been at it for three hours now.....it downloads all the way to 100% then starts over. It has done this a number of times and each time it is the same file name gc2_Twilight.sdc so it is not a series of consecutive files that you need to run the game. Is this happening to anyone else or is it just me?
It just happened AGAIN. I starting to wonder if I should cancel and start over or if it has to do this ten or twenty times before it will kick in?
The same thing is happening to me, except it is going all the way up to 100%, then starting over at zero. This has happened at least half a dozen times over nearly three hours so far, and is still going.
What, yous guys don't wear diapers when you play online? I guess some people just want to win more than others......
I'd like to see a mass scuttle command. As it stands now I use ships that have lost their usefulness as cannon fodder, and use those fleet points to build more appropriate ships as they come. Not as big of an issue with things like trade posts that you want to change to frigate factories though, there just aren't as many of them.
I don't think intelligent design should be taught in the schools. However, darwinist evolutionary theories should be taught as theories, not facts, holes in the theory should be pointed out, and it should not be taught as proof that there is no creator. When you start teaching it as proof of a Godless universe, you are teaching a religious viewpoint, and supposedly that is not allowed in public schools.
This mod is supposed to include the mod with the extra planet types right? I thought it was but either the new planet types are EXTREMELY rare or something isn't loading right. edit: my bad.....I downloaded the wrong one originally
Check out my mod..I have fleet cap sizes of 2,000 (small setting) 5,000 (medium setting) and 10,000 (Large setting).Enjoy!WWW Link
Nice. I'll try it! Which files did you have to change?
I can't seem to find a thread that explains how you can change or eliminate fleet caps. Can anyone explain to me how this is done? Or perhaps there is a mod for this out there already? I like to play on huge maps, where the fleet caps make it very difficult to defend all of your systems and stay on the offensive, and I'd like to mod the fleet caps to make the game a bit more "epic map" friendly. Thanks!
Well at least I'm going into this patch knowing that my past save files won't work. That really caught me by surprise last time. A shame to have to end my 20+ hour game like this, but hey I gotta get some practice in for my early game strategies anyway. :D
How could you make a fleet big enough to defend all those planets though?
Cool. I'll check in at 8pm and see if you're around.
Hey! It's been a while since I hosted a game! I have some free time tomorrow(Friday) night though, and I'd love to have a crack at hosting another one, probably at 8pm eastern. If anyone is interested let me know! Also, I have Ventrilo now so I can do in-game voice chat too.
Well, maybe there could be an empire building mode and a battle zone mode, but all in all I don't mind starting off at war with everyone. Some of the missions are annoying though, and impossible to achieve.
I like to play on maps with lots of stars with few planets on them, and the fleet caps do seem rather limiting on those maps, even with the big fleets option. When you pretty much have to build a fleet for every star you own, your forces can get thinned out quickly. In a way that is not so bad because it forces you to think about tactics and strategy more, but at the end of the day this is a game with only one victory option(the military one) and it gets difficult to defend your systems and buil
From what I understand there is some sort of galaxy version value that you have to change from 0 to 1 before those files will work post patch, but I have no idea how to do that.
How do you change the version number of a galaxy file?
I blame the virgins!
In most games that I have played, when you update the game you can still play the old games but they won't have the features of the new patch. I guess I shouldn't have assumed anything but it was still disheartening to see that I could no longer play an epic game that I had been playing for a couple of weeks. I was pissed for a while. Then I started playing a new game and got over it. lol
Unfortunately I downloaded the game, and it looks like Stardock automatically downloads the most recent version. That sucks. Like I said I've been playing the game for a couple of weeks now and it was just starting to reach a turning point.
