but will it happen in time? in time for what? anyway, where i work, things will usually happen by Tuesday. no particular week, but for sure it's going to be a Tuesday. <img src="ht

well, while we aren't comparing games, Moo3 describes planets with: Size, Gravity, Temperature, Pressure, Fertility, Biodiversity, and Mineral Richness. each race has different Gravity, Temperature, and Pressure preferences. the number of regions where things can be built on the planet is set by Size. resources produce
for me, since i'm usually putting the new engines or whatever into the same location on a ship when i'm upgrading it, it just means that i have to adjust the slider differently for each new tech, so that the final size is the same as it was before. really, the ideal would for all generations of the tech have the same starting size... then i'd be able to click on the old engine, hit delete, then select the new one (retaining the size and orie
the concept of "range" would also be nice, but it would reqire a complete overhaul of the combat system. i'd like to have the choice between some weapon that have lower damage but longer range, and some that have shorter range but more damage... say lasers vs fusion beam weapons. or some weapons that don't lose damage with range, like mass drivers and missiles, compared to beams which would fall off with range. or some
i was wondering the same thing, too... it bugs me. they should start off big and boring then get smaller and cooler looking. this is what runs through my head as i resize them in the ship builder.
It's a bug, plain and simple. actually, it seems more like a "design decision". doesn't it? a bug would be if they meant for something else to happen, and it didn't. but if what happens is what was intended, it's not a bug, it's just a design decision you don't agree with. <br
so, the AI empires in Moo3 are more predictable than any other 4x game? me, of course, i play them like a harp, but i do that in GalCiv2, the Civ series (when i played it), and SMAC too. have you ever met an AI you couldn't out-think? as for the planetary viceroy, once one actually understands how to use Development Plans, it's not that h
i reckon it was a mixture of devoted love, mental sickness, hope for a lost dream to be at least partially regained, gluttony for punishment, and something Elerian fetish that kept the dream alive. also, underneath all the warts, there's lots of cool details. for example, it's cool when you're designing a ship to be able to specify if a
hey there, Skyjack! good ta see ya. so, yeah, that was where once you had taken one of the Orion planets, the remaining defenders of the system would use their superior initiative to make you defend that planet, instead of letting you attack the next planet in the system? i never experienced it myself, but i heard about it... <br/
as the keeper of the "higher resolution" mod for Moo3, you know i've got something to say about all this... the game is sooooooo much better now than when it was released! we've taken it apart, put it back together, and it is actually playable and enjoyable now by a much wider audience. on the boards we get a constant trickle of "tried it w
i thought the "we know what you are doing" thing indicated that they felt that your military might be massing for an attack on them. sure, you might be massing for an attack on somebody else, or just passing through... but "oh, don't worry, i'm just passing through!" sounds like a great cover story for a sneak attack, doesn't it? and, at the end of the game, when everybody says that, perhaps it's becasue they all know that you are
my last TBS space game was (well, still is... it'll always have a place in my heart and on my hard drive) the infamous Moo3. the publisher, Infogrames, botched it so badly they had to go hide behind the Atari name. the developer, QSI, retreated to go do a game for a less incompetent publisher (the government/military), and after two incomplete attempts at patches the whole thing was dropped like a flu-ridden albatross, and the mess left for
dare we hope for a Moo4? maybe after Atari/Infogrames finishes circling the drain and sells off the license to somebody that would actually understand the target market and support their product after release?
Moo3 has a 3D galaxy map, with spiral arms and everything... 255 stars maximum, with a maximum of like 7 or 8 habitable planets each. black holes and neutron stars, too, which serve to block passage, like seas or mountains in a land-based game. also, the different races have different temperature, pressure, and gravity preferences, so what's good for one race will be awful for another. 16 playable races, and another 16
when i traded the Carinoids my Aphrodesiacs and Frictionless Clothing for some of their tech, i was so pleased that i took a screenshot.
the empires i usully see it applied to are the Arceans, Altairans, those for sure, and iirc the Drath. i'd bet the Drengin get it too, and proably the Yor, but i never worry about checking their report, since i never expect them to be nice to me anyway. i don't think i've seen the Terrans, Torains, or Korx with this predicate, but i may just have missed it. anyway, if it always appears on the same races and not on other
well, the what i take the BETA part to mean is "we know it has issues, please help us to find other issues that we don't already know about... if you don't feel like helping, or don't know how to give constructive feedback, please wait for a non-BETA release, which should be coming soon." as compared to the non-BETA meaning "we're pretty sure we got all the obvious problems out, but if you find any that we missed, please do let us know. it
i get out of the defualt government as soon as i can keep 75% approval at 100% production and still be making a profit. the bonuses from the advanced govenments are fantastic... anyway, if you are Good, get the Hall of Empathy, and then start the proxy wars. while your proxies fight, wait for the enemy to surrender to you, and see if you can get a Research victory before another victory condition sets in.
well, you don't have to worry about relations with an Ally deteriorating, iiuc... they stay happy with you as long as the Alliance lasts. also, you don't have to spend time taking over your Allies to win the game, which are like refund minutes that you can spend playing your next game of GalCivII... or eating, or whatever.
grrrrrr! double post! darn forum software!
one possible thing that could be happening is that GalCiv (or more likely the video driver) is not clearing out the video memory that GalCiv has been using, so when your new app is loading it isn't getting the full memory on the graphics card to work with, all at once. so what it may be doing is loading as much as it can, when you start your new app, and leaving the rest in system memory, or on disk. and then when something is required by t
i didn't get it in either of the first two betas. my laptop has a fairly downrev nvidia chip in it... let's see... uh, an NV34 with 64MB. no wonder it's so dog-slow in larger galaxies!
i prefer to display my age in hexadecimal... it let me claim to be "just an irresponsible teenager" for quite some time.
i've got the dark stars too with b3. where do the save games live? i looked through the directory structure, and i don't see anything obvious...
With the auto-obsolete, the base design was gone and if I used the decked out warship as a template, I'd lose a design that was still useful to me. Sorry, you probably already knew all that and didn't mind . true... i didn't mind. but i see
