But I didn't already delete the skin directory (why would I try to delete the skin twice?). I was attempting to delete the folder directly from WBconfig precisely so that I would (haha) be able to avoid any problems of that sort.

No WinFX installed on the laptop (which is having the problems). Actually no other Stardock products other than ObjectDock.
Lol... I suppose I could try over break and see if WB screws up the deletion again if the deletion is done while unloaded. *shudders*
Symantec *Corporate* is very nice; doesn't mess with anything else on the system and it only scans. No excess pretty graphical "the word 'virus' scares me" sort of junk. Corporate is no-nonsense and simple and fast. Symantec regular/home version, though, I wouldn't speak for. Plus, it cannot be Symantec or Winrar that is the problem because I have the same exact versions installed on both computers! I am very certain that thi
Replacing skins.mdb "fixes" the skin list problem and I no longer get prompted to pick a data source. However, I lost all associations between Windowblinds and .wba files. I ended up uninstalling WB and then reinstalling through SDC to get things back to normal. @milksama - This most recent time, I deleted Mike's Arrow theme. The last time I believe I was trying to delete Dogma. The interesting thing is that this appears to be
Default is winRar, same as it is on my laptop where I am also running WB (but installing skins works fine on the laptop)
Personally, my advice is don't delete them from Windowblinds otherwise your entire skin list will disappear into thin air (WB deletes skins.mdb!!) and your Windowblinds will lose its association with .wba files so double-clicking on them no longer extracts the files to a folder in your WB directory.
I've already checked all those posts. Most of the troubleshooting seems to be targetting people with a modified Windows installation, which I do not have, and I know this problem only appeared after using WB5 successfully for a while. The linked file from SD Support in one of the threads doesn't actually link to any file. In any case, I ended up replacing skins.mdb from one of the archived insalls of Windowblinds and then rebuild
Not a problem with any security programs. I'm pretty tech savvy (I do tech support at my college) and I don't have any spyware. Only running Symantec AV Corporate Edition. I use Firefox. It's not a problem with downloading content because I am installing the skins from the desktop. I may try the ODNT Zapper.
I'm getting the Data Source Not Found error from Windowblinds.... BUT I know *exactly* what caused it to happen. WB5 was working fine for the past 2 weeks. Then tonight, I decided I wanted to delete one of the skins I have installed. I press "Delete this skin" in the WB config window. Windowblinds thinks for a few seconds and then gives me the Data Source Not Found error. Clicking the Rebuild List button does not fix things. I
Though for some reason, they almost never link to WinCustomize for downloads. I'm not sure why since there's a lot of content here and we link back automatically. I can't speak for Aqua-Soft's newsposters, but I'm a frequent visitor there. One thing that's really annoying is that Wincustomize takes a really long time to render in Firefox (including Firefox 1.5) compared to IE. You use html tables to lay out everything and it's so so
can I ask/suggest that the deadline be the week before Christmas? It always stinks when AMAZING holiday themes are released the day of or even after the said holiday (Holy Day)? I second that. Hopefully you'll allow both winter/Kwanzaa/Hanukkah and Christmas themes, though it's up to you. <img src=
Happens with every single .wba I've downloaded over the past... 7 months maybe? Doesn't go away no matter what. Refreshing the skins list?
@aufisch, already tried that, no good. Like I said, WB *does* recognize that it should open .wba files. It creates the skin folder, but it doesn't seem to manage to extract the actual skin files to install.
I know how to install skins by hand, but it's really pretty annoying to have to manually extract WBA's to the WB folder. Installing skins did work at one point, but not any longer and I really haven't been able to figure out what (if any) changes I may have made. I am running XP SP2 and WB 4.6 (most recent update before the 5.0 betas). By the way, uninstalling WB and reinstalling does not fix this problem.
Double-clicking on a .wba file no longer works to install the skin. Windowblinds popups the systray message saying the skin is installed and if I look in the Windowblinds folder, the skin has a folder properly created there.... but the folder itself is EMPTY! None of the actual skin files/images get copied over.
Hey, I guess I'm the 10th female posting here? I've always messed around computers probably because we had them around the house a lot--my mom and dad both used them for work (though neither were in the computers/IT industry). My friends in middle school were mostly computer guys and a lot of my high school friends were as well. I went to a number of LAN parties before starting college, though I was only mediocre at gaming (no time for games when yo
I probably should also add that sometimes I will have an issue lasting for a few days where if I maximize a window, it goes so far off the screen that the titlebar and the menus of the window are up even above where the taskbar would be (e.g. I can't see them at all!) This has been happening since maybe 4.5? Right-clicking on the window's taskbar button, choosing to minimize and then right-clicking again and choose Restore will fix the wind
I've rebooted many times, still the same problem. I was also having this problem with WB 4.6 so it's not the upgrade that's the issue.
I just upgraded to WB 5 but I was having this problem with WB 4 as well. I have my taskbar at the top of my desktop, not at the usual spot on the bottom. Whenever I try to maximize any windows, they go right to the top of the screen; they don't maximize to the bottom edge of the taskbar. This happens no matter what theme/skin I am using in WB. Right now if I press maximize, the window will maximize to the top of the screen and cover the taskbar; on
Good working you guys on building this thread! Fun and good will for all involved.
So uh, how many activations are we allowed??
Go go go! We can do it! A few hours to go!
@Lantec, re: the tricker-treaters... lol!!!!!!!
