Patrick, I don't think you are a nonsense, I agree totally with what you said.

Brad, can't you just dump the ratings? surely THAT will save bandwidth on it's own. Personally I don't care what rating someone gives me, what good does it do me? I am not going to go back and change that piece because someone rated it low, what's done is done, and I'm already making my next image. Art is subjective, how many times have we discussed this on these myriad boards?, all you are doing is depriving someone else of viewing an image that THEY might adore. I don't know why I'm sudden
I wonder if his previous upload was made by him or someone else? It's called Golden Sea.
I like this guy's tutorials...... http://www.pankpages.com Strange name....Good site.
But Paul...... What is the point of me having Journeyman status so that my work bypasses moderation, only to have the first person who looks at it decide he doesn't like it, and effectively moderate it!!
Jafo... I understand what you are saying, but most of my stuff has only one or two ratings, or even none at all. THAT'S why it doesn't make sense. If absolutely EVERYONE rated EVERYTHING they viewed, then it might be worthwhile, but when the opinion of one person makes your work unavailable to everyone else, then I don't think that's right. I follow the teachings of the great "jsenn", who once told me: "If I review it, it gets 10, or A++, If I don't like it, I say nothing and walk away". I'm sur
Thanks Dork!! I'll throw it up then.....
I know how you feel Berzerka. My "machine series" of wallpapers has been very popular everywhere, but someone rated two of them very low, (though they are all of similar quality) and those two have very few downloads which is a shame because it's probably depriving people who were collecting my Machine images. I think the rating system is totally worthless here. If you had a disagreement with someone, they could go and rate all your work as "1", and immediately your work is unavailable to the ma
I have finished my first DX theme. How do I get it up here? Is it zipped? or do I just lift it out of the themes folder as it is and upload it? Will the wallpaper go with it automatically?, or do I have to do something with it? And if I have used objects downloaded from this site, do I have to seek permission to use them? ( for example: some winamp control objects). Anybody help me out?
Thanks AJ, If I'm not successful, I'll definitely consider doing that.
China: Is that your phone number up there^?
Hippy, You'd only spend it on girly things! lol.
Jark, you shouldn't lick technology, you'll get an electric shock. Then you won't be licking ANYTHING! How are you gonna explain THAT to the wife? lol.
I just called my credit card company, and they said that there is no problem with international transactions, and that the fault must be with Stardocks authorisation software. Maybe they are using a demo version, lol.
Good point Bill, I didn't think of that...... But isn't that the point of having a credit card?, "Accepted all around the world" or so the advertising blurb says! If I cant buy online with it, then they are getting it back! I will check that though, Bill, Thanks!
with desktopX running, right click on your desktop, a popup menu appears, at the bottom it says "desktopX", click that and choose "load theme". You should then get a window with all available themes listed. If sputnik is not there, it's because you didn't put it in the Themes folder in DesktopX. If it IS there, just highlight it and hit apply. DONE.
China, If I whisper in your ear, it won't be ####'s it'll be xxxx's heh! Anyway, you'd only buy girly things........
I'm not 100% sure but I think it's something like this: Go back into users, clear any names that are in there, I think if you just leave it blank and re-boot, it should be o.k. I could be wrong, it's a long time since I messed around in there, but it's worth a shot. By the way, when you ask a question like that, don't forget to say which operating system you are using.
OOPS! I think that link should be http://www.download.com Sorry.
There are a few free image viewers out there. You could try http://download.com for a start, they are sure to have one. I bet they even have a demo of ACDSee to download. Good luck!
I never wanted a credit card, I never felt the need for one. Then I decided to buy DesktopX, so I applied to my bank for a credit card specifically to buy DX. I have now been trying to purchase DX online for around two weeks, and each time i fill out the form, my card is declined!! Yes, i DID contact sales @ stardock to tell them, but they just said keep trying, or mail us a check. Well, I live in the U.K., and I don't want to go to the hassle of getting foreign currency money orders and wai
If I win the lottery, I'll get one of those. I don't care what it does, it just looks so damn cool! I would also put my stereo system in it, and just chill out.
You don't really need ACDSee, although it is very convenient, (and I couldn't live without it!). You could simply open the various skin parts in Photoshop to see what the skin comprises of.
What is Hotline? heh. Maybe someone is willing to make you an icon, but doesn't know what the program is. You are rather defeating the object of your request by saying "don't ask".
Most people here use something like Photoshop, or Paintshop Pro, or The Gimp (which is free). Image editors take a little time to learn, but there are lots of tutorial sites that will help get you started. If you already have an image editor that you like to use, then you are ready to start skinning. Just try and choose a simple program to start on, as some of them can be a little complex for beginners. Most people start out with "QuickNotes" or "Beatnik Clock" or something like that. Anothe
